There's a rumbling in the force, as continued whispers of an open-world Star Wars game based on The Mandalorian can finally bring the forgotten Star Wars 1313 back to life.

Jon Favreau put on his best beskar in 2019 and introduced the world to Din Djarin - the titular Mandalorian of Disney+'s series of the same name. The Mandalorian became an overnight success thanks to the likes of Pedro Pascal's brooding lead and the addition of Baby Yoda, but this was only the start.

Despite only speaking four lines in George Lucas' original trilogy, Boba Fett has emerged as one of the most iconic Star Wars characters of all time. Temuera Morrison portrayed the character in The Mandalorian Season 2, and will lead The Book of Boba Fett spin-off on December 29. So, how does Star Wars 1313 fit into all of this?

What Is Star Wars 1313?

For those who know their Luke from their Leia, Star Wars 1313 was an ambitious project from LucasArts that never quite saw the light of day. Announced at E3 2012, the game was supposed to follow an unnamed bounty hunter through the criminal world of Coruscant's Level 1313. The big twist is that the MVP would be killed early on, with players then taking control of Boba Fett.

Star Wars 1313 has released a slow trickle of concept art over the years and even showcased a gameplay trailer shortly after its reveal. Sadly, Disney's purchase of Star Wars scuppered these plans and marooned 1313 on the fourth moon of Yavin.

In 2015, Star Wars overlord Kathleen Kennedy told /Film that 1313 might not be dead - teasing that the idea could be revisited one day. Back then, Kennedy explained, "Our attitude is, we don't want to throw any of that stuff away. It's gold.

"And it's something we're spending a lot of time looking at, pouring through, discussing, and we may very well develop those things further. We definitely want to." We're not expecting a full-blown Star Wars 1313 revival, but it's easy to imagine the story being reworked into an open-world Mandalorian or Boba Fett game. This is the way.

Is Star Wars 1313 Being Reworked?

Let's remember that there's been a lot of discussion about a Mandalorian game. Earlier this year, Xbox insider Nick "Shpeshal Ed" Baker teased a potential Xbox exclusive thanks to Phil Spencer.

Posting on Twitter Baker pointed to a Mandalorian Funko Pop and said, "Ok. So you'll notice...there's a Mandalorian Funko on Phil's shelf. Yes. Someone is making a Mandalorian game. Not sure who yet. Sorry." Sadly, that was months ago and there's still been no news.

We know Ubisoft is working an open-world Star Wars game, but we've heard nothing about it being related to Din Djarin or Boba Fett. Elsewhere, God of War legend Cory Barlog has thrown his hat in the ring to make a game based on The Mandalorian

Just like the world of Star Wars is alive and well on the small and silver screen, its video game counterparts are multiplying at an astronomical wait. Here's hoping that in a Clone Army of Star Wars titles, someone finds room to give Star Wars 1313 the justice it deserves.
