Oh My God There’s Pokemon Krispy Kreme Now
Pokemon has been treating us with merchandise at the moment. Of course, it would seem to any outsider that the franchise is an absolute merch machine, but over in the west we’ve been less lucky. Some kid’s shirts in Primark here, some Sword & Shield tie-in stuff there, but for the most part, we’re left without. Until recently.
There’s a whole slew of Pokemon in Build-A-Bear including a new Gengar with a little coat (who I would die for) and the Pokemon line of Funko Pops is introducing some new beasties. Plus, with the rampant nature of Funko, they’ll have worked through all 1000+ monsters by year’s end - but The Pokemon Company aren’t done with us yet, as a new partnership looks ready to dominate the bank accounts of thousands.
Pokemon Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Are A Thing Now
Down under in Australia, the lucky Aussies are now able to get their hands on brand new Pokemon Krispy Kreme doughnuts, with their own special flavours for every monster.
This comes after another gaming collaboration with the doughnut company - wherein they produced both the 'Nexus Gen' Xbox doughnut, and a special doughnut celebrating Halo Infinite.
The Poke Ball doughnut is an original glazed doughnut, Pikachu is a chocolate creme dipped in white truffle, Bulbasaur has green apple icing, sand sugar and a creme swirl, Charmander is a vanilla custard dipped in white truffle, and Squirtle is strawberry filled and dipped in white chocolate. Drool.
There’s a twelve-pack also available for $29.95 AUD, and each doughnut is $3.75. Sadly, they’re only in Australia for now, but here’s hoping they’ll make their way over to our ends soon.
But, interestingly, this isn’t the only big food collaboration Pokemon has been involved in this week.
There’s Pokemon Oreos Too
As announced in a surprisingly epic video ad, there’s also a collaboration between Pokemon and Oreos coming very soon. The Oreos come branded with the face of one of 16 different Pokemon for a weird collectability that’s bound to be alluring to collectors.
The Oreos come branded with the obvious picks of Pikachu and Squirtle, but also boast the likes of Sandshrew and Rowlett.
Luckily for us, it looks like these limited-edition cookies are actually coming to the UK, so keep an eye out in supermarkets when they release on September 13.
Pokemon has been busy collaborating with a lot of snacks at the moment, so we’re holding our breath for some other similar Nintendo food products. Come on, Nintendo - you know a Pikmin salad makes sense. Make it happen.
