Whilst there will be no World Championships this year for Rocket League, NRG has been the outshining team in North America, sitting atop of the RLCS X standings amid fierce competition from Envy and Spacestation Gaming.

However, they will be without their coach as they compete in the Regional Championships Semifinals, as they look to officially be coronated as the best team in the region for a second consecutive season.

NRG (now The General NRG), go into the North American Championships having to win just two games to be crowned victorious. Their first match which will be against the successful sides in the 3rd-6th seeds will see coach Emiliano "Sizz" Benny be sidelined.

Why Is NRG Sizz Banned?

As of June 7, Rocket League developers issued a ban to Sizz, following a violation of their code of conduct. The ruling states "After playing Rocket League on a Twitch live-stream, Sizz violated the RLCS and Rocket League Player Code of Conduct. This behaviour included, but is not limited to, berating and harassing Psyonix and its employees."

Sizz's ban comes after a clip went viral in which the coach was avidly complaining about the in-game lag on his behalf. The outburst saw him label Psyonix as a "company full of f*****g brainless monkeys", "useless f**ks", and a "stupid f*****g garbage company", after saying he's been lagging for "seven years" straight.

Psyonix's Competitive Ruling On NRG Sizz

Psyonix's ruling states "After a thorough investigation and review of the evidence, Sizz will be disqualified from coaching NRG Esports during their upcoming Semifinals match in the North American RLCS X Championship on June 17th, 2021."

According to the code of conduct, Sizz's ban will mean he will not be able to attend any designated chatrooms with players when the tournament is in play, although he can still help in the preparation stages over the course of this week.

With just a single match suspension, Sizz will be back in action for the Grand Finals should the coachless NRG fend off the lower-seeded teams in the semi-finals.

Psyonix was quick to add that "any additional infractions will result in increasing penalties", meaning Sizz is walking on a tightrope for any future outbursts.

As for the championships, many have jibed that this is now Wyatt "Musty"'s time to shine as part of the team, whilst Garrett "GarrettG" Gordon has revealed that NRG's stand-in coach is a moustached Spanish "le Sizz".

The North American RLCS X Championship kicks off on June 17th, with G2 Esports taking on FaZe Clan in the lower bracket.
