NoSkyrim Mod Bans You From Playing The Game
Skyrim is a game that has seen plays, re-plays and re-re-plays from video game veterans all over the road, and each playthrough could take hundreds of hours alone. The game is one of the most lengthy titles out there, meaning it has absorbed hour after hour of gamers’ time. With all of the ports and remakes, fans don’t get much time away from it.
But, what if Skyrim imposed a ban on itself? What if Skyrim had enough of you and booted you out all by itself? Well, one modder has answered the question.
NoSkyrim Mod Kicks You Out Of Skyrim
ThatLittleCommie announced in the Skyrim subreddit that he has spent the last year working on a mod for the game that keeps you from playing it at all. The mod deactivates Skyrim upon launch and immediately kicks you out if you try and get into Tamriel. If you’ve been playing too much Skyrim and you need a self-imposed ban, then this mod is perfect for you.
Players in the comments are reeling from the simple brilliance of the mod, with one user saying "So instead of downloading 200 mods and making Skyrim not launch I can now do it with only 1, what an efficient mod". Another added, "It's not like any of us play the game anyway, 90% of the fun is adding and removing mods", while a third said, "Finally I can see the sun again". It sounds great, but there’s a problem.
NoSkyrim Has Been Taken Down
The masterfully simple mod that keeps Skyrim closed has been taken down from the Nexus Mods website. Nobody really knows why it’s been removed so far (maybe it was too brilliant and needed to be nerfed), but now, the deactivation of the mod has spurred the creation of the subreddit SaveNoSkyrim, along with a Lovers Lab and Discord.
A community is rallying up around the mod, and are fighting to get it back for the masses. For now though, you're stuck playing Skyrim (sorry bout it).
We thought the Witcher mod that lets you play as Geralt and co. was a brilliant brainwave, but that's nothing compared to NoSkyrim. It’s nice to see people come together for a common goal, even if it’s for a silly Skyrim mod of all things. Still, even if the mod doesn’t return, we can rest easy in knowing that it was one of the best.
