Nikola "NiKo" Kovač has officially left FaZe Clan to join G2, as FaZe bid him goodbye through their official Twitter page.

The 23-year-old Bosnian will join the organisation in what is being dubbed as one of the most lucrative transfers that have ever been made in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) and esports in general. NiKo, who has been the entry-fragger for FaZe clan since February 2017, is one of the best in-game leaders that has graced the game in recent years, with FaZe Clan winning countless majors with him at the wheel.

NiKo has stated "I'm really excited to announce that I will be joining G2 Esports and I can't explain how happy I'm that I will be playing with huNter and rest of the guys from now on. I'm coming to this lineup with the goal to bring them back to the top and make sure to stay there".

The move will see him join forces with his cousin, Nemanja “huNter” Kovač, who has also expressed his delight over the signing. He stated "The dreams finally became true. after many years of hard work, I will finally play with my brother in the same team. That was my first goal, my biggest goal since I started playing CS:GO before a few years. Welcome my brother and let's lift some trophies together!"

The most likely to make space for NiKo is François "AmaNEk" Delaunay, although G2 has revealed their plans to potentially have a six-man roster that will interchange depending on which map and opponent that are operating on. G2 stated on their website that "With this signing, we’re taking a new direction with our team. Over the course of the next few weeks, we’ll be evaluating the team and it’s progress to determine the optimal line-up for each match".

Details regarding the financials of the move have yet to be confirmed, although it is heavily assumed to be north of the Cloud9 sums as one of the biggest coups in the history of CS:GO.
