QuakeCon Schedule ‘Leaks’ New Quake Game
It's been a very long time since we had a mainline entry into the Quake series. Quake 4 was our last outing with the sci-fi FPS series, and despite its high scores across the board from critics - and adoration from fans - we haven’t seen a return yet. Many have speculated that its acquisition by Bethesda is what stunted a return to the franchise, and in the wake of the hugely popular DOOM reboots, fans think a new Quake would be perfect.
We previously heard about a possible Quake reboot that could feature a female protagonist, and now, it looks like an announcement of a new title in the series could be coming very soon.
QuakeCon Announcement Supposedly Leaks New Quake Game
QuakeCon is on its way, and as it would seem, it’s already brought forward some details that might not have been intended to be revealed so soon. As pointed out by XboxEra, when the slate for the festival was published, some details about what was yet to be revealed slipped through the cracks, and remained published on the site before being swiftly taken down.
Along with the event page of Friday’s “Let’s Talk Quake” event, it was mentioned that Digital Foundry’s John Linneman would be chatting with Machine Games’ Jerk Gustaffson about a “revitalised edition” of Quake.
This does hint at a Quake remaster of some description, however, remember that details have been removed from the website entirely.
Who Will Develop The Quake Revitalised Edition?
There’s no word yet on who will take to the revitalised edition for development, but it’s thought that id Software has something to do with it after their involvement in the DOOM reboot series. Aesthetically and stylistically. the two games have always had a lot in common, so they’d be an excellent pick to carry the series’ torch.
We’re not sure if this announcement will officially go ahead in the wake of this seemingly monumental leak - but if it does, it could be a very big and busy weekend for Quake fans.
