If you've been thinking about new Horizon Forbidden West gameplay, wonder no more. The long-awaited sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn is almost here, and it’s looking better and better with each passing day. Horizon Forbidden West looks like a game that’s going to be making the most of its new home on new-gen hardware, and has so far impressed fans of the franchise by taking players to all-new locales that expand hugely on the lore of the strange world.

And now, we’ve been given more insight into how the game will play - and it’s going to seriously please some fans of the franchise.

In a long blog post, PlayStation has revealed a peek at New Horizon Forbidden West Gameplay, and shown off some of the new tricks up Aloy’s sleeve to help her get around and fight even harder.

It has been revealed that there are a lot of new weapons coming to the new game along with some that are returning (the use of “some” makes us worry that some have been completely eradicated), and it has been stated machines and other enemies will be able to effectively engage in combat in groups.

There are 12 Valor Surge attacks, each having three of its own levels, and it has been revealed that there will be full DualSense support right the way through the game - but the most crucial addition to the game are Aloy’s new movement abilities.

She will now be able to freely wall jump, solving many players of the first game’s critiques of her movement, and it will join her abilities to sprint, climb and glide around the map surrounding her.

This is great news for long-term fans of the series, and it looks like Aloy’s movement has been massively souped up for this brand-new landscape. And a member of the Guerrila team seems pretty excited about it too.

New Horizon Forbidden West Gameplay: Guerilla’s Lead Systems Designer Explains Aloy’s New Movement

It’s not just us amped for the new movement capabilities available in the new game - the team are pretty hyped about the new Horizon Forbidden West gameplay, too.

David McMullen, the lead systems designer at Guerrilla Games said: “Our traversal design decisions were always in service of increasing dynamic interactivity with the world around you. This could be to empower the player to manipulate and destroy their environment with a tool like the Pullcaster; or grapple-launching into a glide with the Shieldwing to set yourself up for a strike from above. What excites us the most is how our mechanics, new and old, synergistically interact with each other to provide varied and dynamic approaches to any scenario.”

The new movement abilities are going to be a big draw to those who may have been disappointed by it in the first game, and is definitely more than enough to get us even more excited. Roll on February 2022.
