Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is preparing the Thestral carriages, as a new release window for Hogwarts Legacy has us swishing and flicking in excitement. Although the open-world Harry Potter game was pushed from its 2021 release date, we've been promised it's coming this year.

News of an open-world game set in the Wizarding World is nothing new, and while the ambitious title was leaked in 2018, it wasn't made official until the PlayStation 5 event in 2020. From what little we've seen, it's looks like a suitably magical title and one of 2022's biggest hitters.

What's The Hogwarts Legacy Launch Rumour?

Posting on Twitter, AccountNGT claims that Avalanche Software is looking for a Localization Producer to finish work on Hogwarts Legacy. Remembering that localisation usually comes toward the end of a game's production, it's a fair assumption that Hogwarts Legacy could be a little closer than we first thought.

There's also been the additional assistance of Sumo Digital, which has apparently helped keep things on-track. Does this really mean that sketchy NVIDIA leak of March 8 is likely? That would mean Hogwarts Legacy would be just two months away from launch - something that seems improbable right now.

The account says it can't give a specific date, because if it moves for whatever reason, they'll have an angry player base to deal with. It's not quite the concrete update fans were waiting for, but it's a positive sign that we might skip a new trailer and go straight to a release.

What's Going On With Hogwarts Legacy?

It's safe to say, we're at our witch's end with Hogwarts Legacy. Many assumed it would be a prominent feature of Sony's last PlayStation event, while others thought December's Game Awards would round off the year in style with a gameplay trailer. To quote Dumbledore, "Alas."

There has been a sluggish trickle of news relating to the title. Aside from the idea dark magic could be used, there's a chance of transgender character options. One of the big red flags being thrown Hogwarts Legacy's way is the involvement of J.K. Rowling.

Although we're told the franchise author has had no involvement in the AAA title, she'll still take a nice cut of the profits. Transgender customisation will do something to repair the damage of Rowling's outspoken views, but many think this is the reason things have gone quiet on Hogwarts Legacy

Another rumour suggests that the game's appearance would be around the time of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore in April. Naysayers don't even think we'll be seeing Hogwarts Legacy, but considering it's been well over four years of development AND the team has had a year of extra work, you'll be getting a Howler from us if it's not landing before the year is out.
