New Battlefield Game Confirmed For End Of 2021
Electronic Arts (EA) has started off 2021 in a promising fashion. The publishers have so far revealed a thrilling Apex Legends Season 8 trailer with the release of the game on Nintendo Switch recently announced, unveiled the Mass Effect Legendary Edition to be landing on May 14, and teased fans with more high-antics sport releases following the success of Madden and FIFA.
As their quarterly revenue call approached, rumours began to surface of a new Battlefield title to be in the pipeline, with leaks bubbling over such as the instalment supporting 128-player lobbies.
Within the quarterly call, EA CEO Andrew Wilson officially confirmed a new Battlefield game is on its way, with a full reveal set for Spring 2021, and a release by the "holiday season" later this year.
Wilson seemingly confirmed suspicions of the previous reports of mass lobbies, by hinting towards "immersive battles" in "all-out military warfare" with "more players than ever before". Featuring maps with "unprecedented scale", the next Battlefield instalment is set to combine everything that the franchise is known for and "elevate it to another level".
The title, which has yet to be named, will also take full advantage of next-generation consoles with new features, and support the current generation too.
Having released just one DLC for Battlefield V in 2020 (Into The Jungle) - their quietest year to date - it appears much of the development has been undergone behind the scenes. The most recent instalment was Battlefield V back in 2018, whilst 2019 brought three expansion packs (Trial By Fire, Defying The Odds, and War in the Pacific), hinting towards the developers being hard at work on other projects.
So, with the holiday season later this year being the intended time frame, who's getting this on their Christmas lists?
