Apex Legends' Rampart has been left out in the cold for too long. Not only is she a legend with one of the lowest pick-rates in the game, she's also been deemed as entirely boring to play by fans and Respawn has, for too long, let her go without a buff.

Only the dedicated Rampart mains know otherwise, and know how much true potential she has. But now, Respawn is giving her her due diligence, as she's got her own event on the way. And it's coming with the buff that could save her character.

Apex Legends Reveal Evolution Event With New Heirloom

Respawn Entertainment has just revealed the trailer for their latest collection event titled Evolution, revealing a huge range of gameplay changes and cosmetics - most crucially, though, revealing the new heirloom - for Rampart.

The entire event seems to focus on the amped modder, giving her a whopping wrench to bash her enemies with, and a whole new area of the map to dominate.

The trailer itself shows off a lot of new paint-splattered cosmetics, and a big change that will be coming to Arenas mode too.

Here's the full trailer:

New Collection Event Teases New Weapon - By Accident

As if the collection event wasn't enough to keep you busy, it also looks like a new weapon will be joining the game eventually. A new 'Nemesis Burst AR' can be seen in the Rampart Arenas takeover shop menu, implying that a whole new burst weapon will be with us next week.

The gun looks to take energy ammo, which is an interesting choice for such a weapon - but we'll be interested to see how the new gun works. However, it might not be coming soon.

Ryan K. Rigney, director of comms at Respawn Entertainment, has spoken out on Twitter after the gun's leak, telling fans it was a mistake, and that the gun won't be coming any time soon. Whoops.

New Event Brings Big Gameplay Changes To Apex Legends

The event also brings with it some big changes to gameplay - when peeking in death boxes, you'll now be able to see how much shield that body armour has on its icon.

It's a change that fans have wanted for a long time now, and Respawn has finally come through - but that's not even close to the end of the gameplay changes.

The biggest change to gameplay comes to Rampart, whose buffs genuinely look as though they could shift her place in the game's meta. The once-stationary ultimate ability Sheila the minigun is now mobile, letting her run around with the gin. The spin-up is longer, and she only gets one magazine, but its new movement capabilities could entirely change the way the character plays.

Rampart can put it away and pull it out as she pleases until it's out of ammo, and she can still plant it on the ground for her teammates to use - but she won't be able to pick it up afterwards.

Revenant has received a change to his visual effects, designed to make his totem slightly more visible.

Octane is getting a nerf, bringing his jump pad horizontal distance down by 10% and his stim regen from 1.5 to 1.0 hp per second.

Bloodhound has had a change, but it's only slight - now when they ping an environmental clue, the quick chat notification will now specify how long ago it took place.

It doesn't end with legends - a lot of weapons have had some big changes too.

The L-STAR has received even more changes. Its cool-off time is slightly increased, as is its overheat lens replacement time. The big gun has also had its rounds-before-overheat increased by two rounds for each of its respective energy magazine tiers.

The Bocek Bow's Draw speed has been reduced to 0.54, and arrows per brick are increased to 16 as well as their inventory stack caps, to 32 from 28.

The Hemlok has received improved hipfire spread, and the hipfire itself will reset slightly faster.

The Triple Take's ADS charge time has decreased from 1.0 to 0.8.

And finally for weapons, the Eva 8 and Mozambique have had their headshot damage multiplier reduced to 1.25 from 1.5.

The shatter caps have also had some changes, increasing its damage per pellet for the Bocek and strafe speed for the 30-30 Repeater.

The event begins on September 14, so get ready for it - it's gonna be a big one.
