Nintendo’s announcement of the new expansion pack to the Nintendo Switch Online service was… bumpy. Though it comes with some great features like classic N64 and Sega Mega Drive games along with access to the new Animal Crossing: New Horizons DLC, the reveal trailer still stands as the most disliked video ever published by Nintendo. And it’s clear to see why - because the pricing of the service is unfathomably extortionate.

But, to commemorate the new service (that thousands are outright refusing to purchase), Nintendo is offering fans a chance to bag a very cool bonus if they want an authentic N64 experience on Switch - or at least they were.

N64 Switch Controllers Now Out Of Stock For The Year

Nintendo began offering some Switch controllers shaped and designed like the classic, palm-wrecking N64 to usher in the new N64 games to the console. Sadly,  it turns out there are none left for the rest of the year.

The wireless controller is displayed as sold out in the UK store, and while the same can be said for the US store, it specifies that "more controllers will be available in 2022". Whether this is true of UK stock or not remains to be seen, but for the time being, let’s assume that we’re going to be out of luck in terms of getting our hands on the controller before the year’s end.

Although the Sega Mega Drive controller is also currently out of stock in the UK, there’s still stock left overseas, so we don’t yet know if there’s a similarly planned restock for them.

What N64 Games Are In The Nintendo Online Expansion?

Despite the massive price tag to get involved, Nintendo fans are still glad to finally be able to emulate the classic titles that earned a name on the N64. If you end up picking up the expansion, you can treat yourself to replaying Dr. Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Mario Tennis, Sin & Punishment, Star Fox 64, Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, WIN BACK: COVERT OPERATIONS, and Yoshi’s Story - with more planned to come soon too.

At the time of writing, there's no news on whether beloved classics like GoldenEye 007 will come to the service, however, a datamine claims there are at least 38 N64 games on the way. The current roster of games is still great, though there’s no controller available right now to make the experience even more retro. Sorry, everyone - Christmas is ruined.
