We're just weeks away from the release of next-gen consoles and huge titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War ushering in a new era of gaming. Taking the challenge in its stride, Activision has been on the marketing warpath with this trip through history and the long-awaited sequel to 2010's Call of Duty: Black Ops

Following a successful alpha launch, the title recently entered its beta phase and has been dubbed a universal success. The multiplayer maps have gone live ahead of the game's full release on November 13, with some impressive stats. As the dust settles and the figures flood in, the most popular Cold War Beta maps have been revealed.

A Twitter poll had revealed the most popular map, putting the four locales of Armada, Crossroads, Moscow, and Satellite up on the podium. Satellite takes the crown with 42% of the vote. Satellite was highlighted with the most screen time in the run-up to Cold War's testing phases, so it's no real surprise it has earned this fan-favourite status.

Coming in second, the chilly Moscow map earned 35.5% of the vote. It's interesting to note Armada only received 12.6% of the vote - despite the fact it's a whole new experience as you zip between ships in the middle of the ocean. Finally, Crossroads ended up in the last place with 10%. But what about the rest? Both the Miami and Cartel maps are MIA, which could have something to do with the backlash they received during beta.

It's fair to say the Cold War Beta has been a huge hit and lived up to the hype this could be the biggest Call of Duty game in the franchise's 17-year history. The alpha broke records and went on to claim the title as  “most downloaded PS4 alpha or beta in Call of Duty history". This was a particularly impressive feat considering it was announced just days before its release.

As for the maps on display, Activision has promised there will be more than what's been showcased so far. We'll have to wait until the game's full reveal to see everything on offer, so for the time being, make the most of the beta maps in all their glory. Yes, even Miami and Cartel.
