Mortal Kombat director Ed Boon might not be ready to "finish him" just yet, as the franchise overseer has just teased/trolled fans with a new Mortal Kombat 11 DLC. The eleventh main entry in the long-running beat 'em up series came out in 2019, and with no sign of MK12, some players are hopeful for a little more DLC content - well, it works for Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Sadly, with MK11's already healthy dose of post-release fighters and storylines, others have given up hope that Boon and the team will return to the title. Doubling down on the fact we might be stuck with the game we've got, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment released Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate Edition for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in November.

Will there be another Mortal Kombat 11 DLC?

Boon has become the master of the trolls, as he continues to poke fun at fans who demand more DLCs. These days, Boon can barely breathe without someone asking why there aren't more Mortal Kombat DLCs. Keen to cash in on the hype, Boon shared a picture of Tom from Tom and Jerry finally murdering his mouse mate.

The caption on this bloody scene read, "Tom is joining Shaggy as the next MK guest character" - followed by the hashtag "Konfirmed". Even though Boon is clearly having a joke at our expense, it's not a bad idea.

The comments section was quickly filled with the usual responses of gamers asking for their favourite players to be added in as a DLC or possible addition to the inevitable Mortal Kombat 12. As well as The Mask and Bayonetta, there were all the trademark calls for Shaggy. The Scooby-Doo favourite became an internet meme sensation MK11released in 2019, and while we'll probably never see him in Mortal Kombat, it's become a running joke.

Still, there are those that refuse to let MK11 go. One supporter wrote, "Mk11 is not done unless Ed boon or any other NRS developer says 'Mk11 is Done' Ed boon Announced when in mkx and Injustice 2 were completely done but so far he hasn’t actually said mk11 is done I wish people would stop assuming stuff without any proof/evidence".

What's next for Mortal Kombat?

At the time of writing, there's no official word on what's next for Mortal Kombat. With each day, it looks less and less likely that a Kombat Pack 3 will see the light of day. There's been an impressive roster of DLC characters added to Mortal Kombat 11, with the likes of Joker, Terminator, Rambo, and Spawn helping it become one of the greatest fighters in living memory.

Someone suggested the Summer Game Fest look at Evil Dead: The Game could finally bring Ash Williams into the MK fold, but unfortunately, that's one pipe dream that needs to be put on hold for now.

In all likelihood, there will be a bit of a break as NetherRealm Studios shifts focus to other franchises. Let's remember there are those continued rumours of a Marvel fighting game, while only recently, we wrote about a possible Injustice 3. The recent release of the live-action Mortal Kombat movie seems like it would've been the perfect time to drop a new DLC or tie-in content, but with the moment having passed, our dreams of another Kombat Pack might've sadly been KO'ed.
