It'd be a hell of a fight if we waged Call of Duty fans whose favourite title was Black Ops 2 versus Modern Warfare 2 - and anyone else may watch and try to figure out why they're wrong - in a busty old tug of war.

On the one hand, Treyarch fanatics were treated to classical landscapes such as Raid, Slums, Nuketown, Standoff, and Express, with the AN-94, M8A1, and MSMC being among the most popular weapon of choice.

MW2 devotees, however, had the grace of a sniping montage with awesome maps like Highrise, or for the close-quarters sprayer and prayer, the UMP-45 dominated the Brazillian Favelas.

Differing in styles, both MW2 and BO2 go down as the most popular Call of Duty games ever, even with Modern Warfare 2019 smashing all download and purchase records - thanks to Warzone.

With the current title Black Ops Cold War bringing CoD back into its former glory days with the remaster of the BO2 maps alongside some savvy originals and adept weapons, it's left MW2 aficionado's bursting at the brim in both fury and jealousy. Their favourite game was remastered once before, although Activision opted to kick them in the gut by only releasing the campaign after they claimed the stylistic have changed too much for the multiplayer to be brought into the current day. Add to that the fact that Highrise was brought out on CoD: Mobile, there's a certain essence of salt in the air over in the Infinity Ward camp.

With that being said, it appears they have collated and plan to take the regime by the helm, as 20,000 people have signed a petition for the release of Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Remaster.

The premise of their argument stems from the "mediocre" current state of Call of Duty, and that having three titles fully functioning together hasn't been unfeasible before such as in 2017 where Black Ops 3, Modern Warfare Remastered, and Infinite Warfare were all kept updated.

Lest we be reminded of how poor IW and MWR were though, and the fact that with Black Ops Cold War, Modern Warfare 2019, and Warzone on their plate in the present, a fourth title will be a whole new realm for Activision.

The petition states "MW2 is a legendary game and deserves a full remaster with multiplayer included with the same progression, maps, and guns the original had. We don’t want to play with the terrible progression system, guns and SBMM that is in MW2019 on a handful of remastered MW2 maps.".

"Please Activision do the right thing and give us the FULL MW2 Remaster as its own standalone game".

With so much on their mind in 2021, the petition may fall on deaf ears, although a multiplayer remaster really would be a befitting way to continue to propel Call of Duty back to where it belongs.
