It seems that leakers know exactly what fans want. Even before the launch of Vanguard, leaks have suggested that the next Call of Duty is yet another addition to one of the franchise’s longest-standing titles - Modern Warfare.

According to sources, the new game - currently dubbed by fans as Modern Warfare 2 (how creative) - could be a worthy successor to the 2019 reboot if it can stick the landing. And now, we’ve got another potential peek at the game, with the latest Modern Warfare 2 leaks being one that will please fans of the franchise.

Modern Warfare 2 Leaks Tease Four Returning Multiplayer Maps

According to popular Call of Duty leaker TheMW2Ghost, there are four classic maps from the franchise making a bold return in the series’ reboot. In a cryptic tweet, they shared the hashtag #MWII alongside four images - featuring the maps Terminal, High Rise, Favela, and Afghan.

Though there’s no real proof of this being true (as ever, take it with a pinch of salt), fellow leaker Tom Henderson has supported the claim and said they’ve also heard these maps are coming to the 2022 title. He does warn that this could change as the game is so far away, but for now, plans seem to include these four maps.

When Is Modern Warfare 2 Coming Out?

It’s intriguing that these leaks are coming out so soon, as there’s so little information about the game right now. We're also shocked that Vanguard isn't even out yet, but with CoD 2022's official name still unconfirmed, it could take an entirely different shape.

Knowing the current structure of Call of Duty releases, we expect the next chapter (whatever it is) will arrive this time next year - likely around late October/early November to accommodate for pre-emptive holiday spending. Smart.

Whenever CoD 2022 comes out, and whatever it’s bringing with it, fans are going to love another spin at the Modern Warfare series. Let’s be honest though, it’s probably going to be bringing some classic maps with it regardless.
