Dust off your best spandex because it looks like Marvel's Spider-Man 2 could finally be swinging into action. While we've always expected a sequel to Insomniac Games' record-breaking 2018 title, the developer has stopped short of officially confirming Spider-Man 2 is on the way.

Taking our love of Stan Lee's favourite creation and combining it with the essence of Rocksteady's Arkham games, Marvel's Spider-Man was once again a smash hit for Insomniac that continued its success from the days of Ratchet & Clank. Although we had Spider-Man: Miles Morales to tide us over, some felt this expanded DLC wasn't enough to satisfy our hunger for more.

Now, a cryptic post from one of the game's stars has teased an update. Is an official announcement of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 preparing to leap off the New York City rooftops and into our lives?

What's the tease for Marvel's Spider-Man 2?

Insomniac has had a busy 12 months thanks to the release of Miles Morales and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart becoming two of the biggest PS5 games, however, the work never stops. A now-deleted post from actor Nadji Jeter might've just spoiled the surprise. For those who don't know, Jeter provides the motion capture for Miles Morales. Given that the post showed him in a mo-cap suit, it sent tongues wagging.

The fact that Jeter has deleted the post adds further fuel to the fire that he might've just spoiled the surprise of Spider-Man 2. If Spider-Man 2 is shooting now, it still puts us a fair few years from release, however, starts the wagon rolling toward those eventual leaks and plot spoilers - as well as official details.

Sceptics have pointed out that Jeter could be donning mo-cap for an entirely different project, but remembering that he hasn't done that for anything outside of Spider-Man since playing Sam in 2013's The Last of Us, we think this is for an eight-legged adventure.

What do we know about Marvel's Spider-Man 2?

Both Marvel's Spider-Man and Miles Morales gave us some neat clues about what's on the way. As well as a potential tease of Norman Osborn transforming into his Green Goblin persona, there was a wild twist on the source material that could pitch Harry Osborn as Venom. Considering the first game killed off Aunt May, we already know the writers play fast and loose with the lore of Marvel comics.

The first game polished off some major Spidey foes like Kingpin, Vulture, Scorpion, and Doctor Octopus, while Miles Morales took out Rhino and a gender-flipped Tinkerer. There are obviously a lot more rogues out there to tackle, but remember when recent leaks teased Venom as the big bad of the sequel? It's all unsubstantiated for now, and with Reddit's questionable history with leaks, we're far from confirmed the sinister symbiote will be chowing down in Spider-Man 2

Marvel's Spider-Man has sold over 13 million units worldwide, while Miles Morales outsold both The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima in the USA. It's made the duo a nice little earner for both Sony and Insomniac, leading to the inevitable full-blown sequel.

Finally, Insomniac was recently hiring for a big multiplayer project. It might not seem like much, but if the developer is already planning what comes after Spider-Man 2, it gives us hope that Peter and Miles could be suiting up sooner than expected.
