Limited Time Halloween-Themed Map Coming To Call Of Duty: Mobile
Get carving those pumpkins because a limited time Halloween map is coming to Call of Duty: Mobile. Taking the popularity of Activision's long-running shooter franchise and moving it from consoles and PC onto the smaller screen has been a profitable move for the publisher and developer TiMi Studios.
With CoD: Mobile having one of the biggest mobile gaming launches of all time and raking in an eye-watering $54 million revenue in its first month alone, TiMi can afford to splash the cash with some Halloween-themed content. There were already hints that a Halloween map would come screaming into Mobile Season 11, and now, we know exactly what that will involve.
Posting on Twitter, the official Call of Duty: Mobile account shared a picture of a new map - adorned with the frightening faces of some carved pumpkins. CoD veterans soon worked out which familiar locale will be returning with a Mobile (and Halloween) twist.
Mobile marked its one-year anniversary on October 1 with news of a "major update". Now, players can put the classic Black Ops 2 map, "Standoff", in the crosshairs for All Hallow's Eve. Giving "Standoff" a macabre makeover, there are more pumpkins, bats, and cobwebs than you can shake a flying broomstick at. Season 11 is due to drop in the middle of October, meaning we've got a little longer to wait until we can try this one out for real.
It's a similar move to what's going on over in Call of Duty: Warzone with its spooky Season 6. As well as the introduction of the cavernous subway system, Infinity Ward and Raven Software look to be queuing up Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies with some well-hidden Easter eggs. Alongside vampire bats and giant Godzilla teddybears dropping into Verdansk and the four new maps, chilling laughter has been heard in the woods outside the Verdansk stadium.
Although a grown-up version of Samantha Maxis has already been teased as part of Zombies' return, does the laughter of a creepy little girl mean we'll be seeing a classic take on the character making her mark on Season 6's Halloween happenings?
Mobile's latest move comes in the wake of last year's celebrations when a special nighttime version of "Standoff" was part of 2019's Halloween spooktacular. What's next though, will 2021 have a "Standoff" map that's overrun by brain-hungry zombies? Here's hoping!
