LEGO Marvel Superheroes Is Finally Coming To Nintendo Switch
Get ready to suit up in spandex this year, as TT Games' beloved LEGO Marvel Superheroes is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch. The LEGO-themed adventure game encapsulated the magic of Marvel and "clicked" with the long-running LEGO franchise in a big way. With many holding the title as the best modern LEGO game, it's great news that LEGO Marvel Superheroes is coming to Switch.
For those who didn't pick up a copy back in the day, LEGO Marvel Superheroes followed the formula of other games like Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga and Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes.
You could take control of up to 180 playable characters - with everyone from Ant-Man to Venom, Agent Coulson to Wolverine up for grabs. Each character had their own unique abilities, making LEGO Marvel Superheroes a game with plenty of replayability.
When is LEGO Marvel Superheroes coming to Switch?
An official announcement has appeared on the Marvel website and invited you to assemble the Avengers (brick by brick). Warner Bros. Games, TT Games, The LEGO Group, and Marvel Entertainment announced that the critically acclaimed game will be coming to the Nintendo Switch on October 5.
The blog post reads, "Featuring an original story crossing the entire Marvel Universe and filled with classic LEGO videogame adventure and humor, players take on the role of their favorite Marvel Super Heroes as they unite to stop a host of villains from destroying the world. Players will smash, swing and fly through the Marvel Universe as they travel to iconic locations, such as Stark Tower, the X-Mansion, Asteroid M, and Asgard".
With so many Marvel locations and Marvel favourites to get to grips with, there's also the signature brand of LEGO humour to put a smile on your face. The game was helmed by TT's Arthur Parsons, who only left the company earlier this year after 22 years with the developer.
Why is LEGO Marvel Superheroes coming to Switch now?
We'd already clocked that LEGO Marvel Superheroes has been rated for Switch in January, however, there was no concrete release date until now. You should remember that the slightly less impressive LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 is already available on the Switch (costing £49.99/$29.99).
The arguably superior LEGO Marvel Superheroes was based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe (up until Age of Ultron), but took the story much further by including the likes of the X-Men and Fantastic Four before Disney owned Fox.
With the MCU being bigger than ever, it's a lucrative time to release a Marvel game - well, not if you're Square Enix's Marvel's Avengers. LEGO Marvel Superheroes was previously available on the Wii U, but now, it's ready to come to a whole new generation of Nintendo players.
If you still weren't sold on the Switch release of LEGO Marvel Superheroes, take note that the upcoming release will include the base game and all the DLCs. That means the Super Pack (featuring Dark Phoenix) and Asgard Character Pack (that tied into Thor: The Dark World) will give you plenty of bang for your buck. Either way, we can't wait to lift a LEGO Mjölnir and smash the competition to pieces.
