LEGO Announces The 'Biggest Set Ever' Made With 11,000 Pieces
Lego has announced its biggest set ever, with an eye-watering 11,695 pieces. Sadly, it's not the rumoured Death Star, but is actually intended to be hung on your wall. Confused? Well, yeah. I haven't really explained it yet, so that's completely fair.
The set is called 'Lego World Map', and the pieces come in seven different colours. The idea behind it is that you can make a visually-satisfying record of all the places you've visited in the world. With restrictions slowly easing in certain countries, ticking a few places off your list of 'place to go before I die' seems more and more realistic as time goes on.
Another cool feature of the set is that the map itself is not UK-centric (as many maps tend to be). Instead, you can ensure that your home country is in the middle of the map. This is achieved by using the 'connector kit' to allow you to build the world from the centre of your own world, and outwards.
In a statement, Fiorella Groves, the creative lead for Lego Art, said: "We know that our adult fans love to travel, but many haven’t been able to do so for over a year now. We thought that there was no better way of helping explore the world while relaxing in the comfort of their home than by allowing them to build, rebuild, plan and reminisce through building."
How Much Is Lego's Biggest Set Ever?
Well, as you've probably already guessed, this thing isn't cheap. It'll set you back a cool $249.99.
How Big Is Lego's Biggest Set Ever?
The world map is 26 inches tall and 41 inches wide. So yeah, pretty big.
What Comes In The Set?
So if you do decide to purchase the set, you'll receive 11,695 pieces consisting of white for the countries, and red, blue, green, and orange are for the oceans. You also receive two hanging elements for display (of course), and a QR code that provides you with an 'immersive soundtrack' to enjoy whilst building. Nice. There's also a white brick-built frame.
When Is Lego Releasing the Biggest Set Ever?
It's going to launch at Lego stores and on their site on June 1, and being made widely available from other stores from August.
