Job Listing Suggests That BioShock 4 Will Use Unreal Engine 5
The BioShock series has been dormant for some time. BioShock Infinite was an intriguing cap to the franchise that began under the ocean in Rapture and finally took to the skies in Columbia, leading the player through fascinating worlds with dense lore. The exploration-shooter series became one of gaming’s most recognisable titles, with the Big Daddy becoming an icon of gaming, and ever since the credits rolled on Infinite fans have been waiting to return to the franchise. But now, as BioShock 4 seems to start production, job listings are suggesting certain details about the sequel. And one in particular has suggested a huge shift in gameplay.
Job Listing Suggests An Unreal Engine 5 BioShock Game
A new job listing has suggested that a massive change to BioShock is on the way, and it’s in the shape of a whole new engine. Cloud Chamber, the new game development company taken under by 2K Entertainment has opened up for a new job at their headquarters in Montreal. They’re looking for someone specifically with experience in Unreal Engine 5, hinting that the company’s upcoming games will be built specifically for this engine.
What Does Unreal Engine 5 Mean For BioShock?
UE 5 was only officially revealed a couple of days ago, and the contribution it’s likely to make to gaming is incredible. The greatest asset it has is its micro-polygon technology that allows developers to pay very specific detail to the minor elements of game design, meaning that games overall will have incredible graphical fidelity. The huge boost in graphical quality and framerate that the engine offers would be a huge asset to BioShock, making it the best looking game of the series by a long shot as long as it can recapture the moody atmospheres of Rapture once again.
We can’t wait to see a return to the series, let alone one in the leading engine in gaming right now. Whether it’s Rapture, Columbia or elsewhere, we’re excited to see where the franchise goes.
