JGOD Claims Battlefield 2042 'Won't Kill Warzone'
With a huge variety of FPS titles set to be launched this year, the fate of the Call of Duty franchise rests in the hands of its competitors. The upcoming Call of Duty: Vanguard has been rigorously criticised by insiders so far, with it appearing to be falling victim to a used deadline, like Cyberpunk 2077 did.
However, with the likes of 343 industries biding their time to release Halo Infinite and EA throwing all of their eggs into the Battlefield 2042 basket, there could be a shift in momentum for which title could reign supreme.
With Battlefield 2042 being officially unveiled at the E3 conference, alongside an array of gameplay footage, popular streamer James "JGOD" has now rubbished any talks of Battlefield killing the Call of Duty franchise, especially Warzone.
JGOD Claims Battlefield Will Not Kill Warzone
In his latest YouTube upload, the streamer, despite being complimentary of the upcoming title, defended the claims that it will kill Warzone.
JGOD said, "I think they’ve still got a long way to go to convince me that this is the CoD killer, I don’t see it from this."
“Even if Warzone continues to have tonnes of hackers, I don’t really see this killing it because this isn’t free-to-play.”
The Free To Play Model Will Save Warzone
Fortunately for Warzone, their Fortnite-esque free-to-play model is one of the main reasons why Battlefield won't become more popular.
JGOD continued to say, “Unless they drop a BR in the first quarter that’s free-to-play, it’s going to be very hard for this to steal away that audience because it’s a paid game, which many people think it’s way too much to pay $70 for a game as it is."
The real competition for Warzone may come from Halo Infinite, which announced a free-to-play multiplayer model. However, with their Xbox eclusiviity, PlayStation and PC players will stick to Warzone.
