Anthony Joshua Beats Jesse Lingard 10-1 On FIFA
When it comes to off-field antics, fewer professional footballers have better energy than Jesse Lingard, although his summer has now gone from bad to worse.
After narrowly missing out on the Euros 2020 squad, Lingard has been hit with another sucker punch, this time to the gloves of Anthony Joshua rather than Gareth Southgate and his waistcoat.
The West Ham United loanee and Manchester United star swapped his boots for a controller this summer, although it looks like Joshua had been doing plenty of thumb exercises himself before his pending Heavyweight bout with Tyson Fury.
The WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight world champion drew blow after blow into Lingard's FIFA skills, nailing the ex-hammer 10-1.
Joshua Batters Lingard On FIFA
Having superior knowledge of football, you would expect Lingard to tiki-taka his way around the beefy boxer on FIFA, however, this was not the case.
As detailed by The Sportsman, Joshua's fast hands had Lingard falling over his own feet, beating the athlete 10-1 over two legs at the Gamers Without Borders festival.
During the campaign to unite gamers worldwide with a $10million fundraiser for COVID-19 vaccine distributions, Joshua opted for the attacking prowess of Liverpool in both legs, whilst Lingard couldn't find any rhythm with either Bayern Munich or Chelsea.
Lingard, Joshua, Ronaldinho, and More Raise $10M For Charity
Over the course of six weeks of esports and gaming competitions hosted by Gamers Without Borders, over $10million was raised for UNICEF, Gavi, Direct Relief, the International Medical Corps and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid & Relief Centre, all of who will use the donations to continue their distribution of COVID-19 vaccines to poorer countries.
The likes of Lingard and Joshua were amongst many celebrities that took to exhibition matches, which contributed to the main competitions by generating viewers and donations towards the campaign.
Despite the great cause, Lingard will still be sat with his tail between his legs. Maybe a switch to Fight Night Champion for a rematch on Joshua's turf could be Lingard's path to redemption.
