It Looks Like Skyrim Is Branching Out Into Curtains And Bedding
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has had some peculiar merchandising forays in the past. From shower curtains to watches and mudcrab plushies, Bethesda has gone nuts producing guff to sell tofans of the iconic fantasy title. It’s fairly standard practice for video games, especially those of the size and scope as the Bethesda banger.
Just when you think you've seen all there is to see in Tamriel, be warned. Uh...it looks like it’s about to get a bit weirder.
Skyrim Bedding And Curtains Might Be On The Way
Big news for fans of crimes against interior design - Skyrim branded bedding and curtains could well be on their way. A trademark has now been established for some homewares that allow the fantasy of Tamriel to bleed into your real life. Towels, pillowcases, baby blankets, curtains, banners, and flags (among other items) could soon be on their way to absolutely decimate the feng shui already established in your home.
It seems that Bethesda has gotten tired of porting Skyrim to consoles and are now electing to port the game directly into your daily life. It means you'll be able to clamber out of your Skyrim bed and pull your Skyrim blinds before playing Skyrim for 10+ hours.
Will Skyrim Hype Ever Die?
The short answer is no, but looking at it a little more critically - we hope so. Though Rockstar has made GTA V work for so long, it’s mostly down to the longevity of Grand Theft Auto Online that the game remains afloat (and a money-mill of magnanimous proportions). Skyrim only lasts in the current console generation as long as Bethesda keep porting it, and that will likely come to an end with the release of The Elder Scrolls VI, whenever that is.
Of course, Skyrim will have its name in the video game history books after its grand contribution to the fantasy genre and nigh-on perfecting the formula. Until the next game in the series, Skyrim is destined to remain the benchmark for fantasy games.
So, in other words, Skyrim isn’t going anywhere. Bethesda's Todd Howard pretty much confirmed this with the recent announcement of the Anniversary Edition and the addition of fishing. And apparently, Skyrim is heading straight for our home decor at the same time. Brilliant.
