Iconic Call Of Duty Map Is Getting A Warzone Pacific Makeover
If there's one thing Call of Duty loves to do, it's rehashing the past. We don't even mean in terms of eras of battle - we mean the past of Call of Duty itself.
We've grown accustomed to it now, but the returning maps that rear their head with every passing game and season remain incessant, and it's increasingly clear that the franchise knows that it wouldn't be anywhere without the nostalgia they fostered back in the World At War days.
Vanguard isn't safe from this either, bringing back some classic World At War maps as well as Shipment in the recent update, and now more maps are set to join them - but with a particular Warzone flair.
Warzone Pacific-Style Classic Map Coming To Vanguard
As the launch of Vanguard Season 1 rapidly approaches, new information courtesy of Call of Duty has suggested that a classic "fan-favourite" map will be arriving in Vanguard soon. This time though, it will be getting some Warzone Pacific theming.
In the latest update for Warzone on the Call of Duty blog, the suggestion was made that a classic map will be coming back, for free, during the next season.
"Head back here [to the blog] soon and expect to learn about the two free functional weapons, new Operator, Zombies content, Multiplayer modes, and two maps all coming on December 8. That includes a Pacific-inspired take on a fan-favourite classic Call of Duty map…". Curious.
What Map Could Be Coming To Vanguard Next?
There's no telling yet what this upcoming map could be - but fans on Reddit have their own thoughts. In the comments on a post in the CoDCompetitive subreddit sharing the news, fans have suggested some ideas. Some of them aren't so nostalgic though.
One user suggests that Call of Duty: WWII's Gustav Cannon could be coming back, though others expect the use of "fan-favourite" to imply the game could be one of the really popular maps - Rust and Nuketown have both been suggested.
What about a Pacific Nuketown renamed as Beachtown. We won't truly know until we get an official announcement, but until then, fans can rest easy knowing that more old stuff will be coming back to Vanguard. Then again, we probably could have guessed that.
