HUNDEN Claims ESIC Isn't Hearing His Argument And Plans To Enforce A Two-Year Ban

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) coach Nicolai "HUNDEN" Petersen has claimed that the Esports Integrity Commission isn't "hearing his side of the story" as the investigations into his conduct are set to be wrapped up.

The head coach, previously of Heroic, is under investigation by ESIC after "sharing sensitive" information about his former organisation, specifically surrounding their play strategies. Heroic alleged that HUNDEN "shared confidential and sensitive information from our strategy folder with a key individual at a major competitor prior to the tournament. This was done without the knowledge of anyone at Heroic, and would obviously not have been approved."

Despite addressing the accusations and admitting that anti-strategy materials were discussed, although "knowledge sharing is essential for me as a coach", ESIC has continued their official probe into the controversy.

After being one of 37 coaches that were banned from Valve competitions by ESIC, as a result of the spectators' bug, HUNDEN's cooperation with the commission saw his one-year suspension slashed to eight months. However, it now looks like his openness is not going to be enough to avoid a second lengthy ban, as ESIC is set to announce his fate.

Speaking on a Danish television program, HUNDEN said: "I am deeply unhappy that they do not choose to hear me in this case, as I think it is a huge assessment case.

"I have never been heard in the case. The only thing ESIC has done is to threaten me by saying that if I choose to appeal the verdict, I will be given a five-year quarantine instead. My lawyer is furious and in shock at how ESIC is running their show."

The CS:GO veteran also expects the commission to enforce a two-year ban, which could be extended as far as half a decade should HUNDEN decide to appeal the decision and lose the case.

ESIC previously said they would be announcing the outcome of the investigations on August 25, although it now appears they have deliberated further and will be voicing the verdict on the morning of August 27.
