Every now and then, a piece of gaming merch comes along that genuinely has you scratching your head and wondering WTF is actually going on. To be honest, we're not mad at it. This time, one artist has created a line of fleshy controllers that look like they've crawled out of Silent Hill's hellfires.

For those who haven't played Konami's horror series, Silent Hill comes from the darkest recesses of our nightmares with bound nurses and horrific figures that have metal pyramids fused to their bodies. One artist has now created a gaming controller that also reminds us a bit of the Hellraiser Cenobites, a bit of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and the spellbook from Hocus Pocus

Who makes these fleshy controllers?

These controllers are the work of artist Michael Adams, who can be found under the Instagram handle crookedsmile.claywork. The one that's been doing the rounds recently is a stomach-turning revamp of the Nintendo 64 controller.

Remembering Nintendo is about to release a next-gen N64 controller for the upcoming Switch Online expansion, now could be a time to take a peek at Adams' creations. Looking like it's been created from the eyes and teeth of some poor victim, there's even a nipple for the joystick - hopefully, that will alleviate that infamous N64 palm injury

What other fleshy controllers are there?

Namely, the crookedsmile.claysworks account is packed to the rafters with creepy creations that Silent Hill would be proud of. If you weren't a Nintendo kid growing up, there's a pale and fleshy PS1 controller, a maggot-filled iPod, and even a Momo My Little Pony. Adams' taste is eclectic - to say the least.

There are plenty of NSFW *erm* additions to his page, but namely, it's pure nightmare fuel that we can't get enough of. Buttplugs are all well and good, but there's something about the design of the N64 and replacing its buttons with eyes/teeth that just works. Recent rumours claim Silent Hill could be making a comeback, and if it does, these controllers are just crying out for a collab with Konami.

Although there's currently nothing in Adams' Etsy shop, keep checking to see what's next from his twisted mind of creativity. What's next, a PlayStation 5 that looks like it's bound in human skin like an American Horror Story homage? What about Joy-Cons that look like they're made from severed toes? If only we'd been able to rescue Princess Peach and toss Bowser into lava using a nipple back in 1996.
