Raven Darkholme — better known as Mystique — is one of Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 4’s featured skins. The Marvel villain-turned-hero comes with a whole series of cosmetics, including skin styles and her very own emote. Perhaps the most desired of these items is Mystique's Tactical style and Shapeshifter emote. These two cosmetics require completing a string of specific challenges revolving around Mystique.

In this guide, we will highlight exactly how to unlock Mystique's Tactical style and Shapeshifter emote. Additionally, we’ll run readers through some tips and tricks related to each challenge so that you can show off these high-end cosmetics as soon as possible.

Unlocking Mystique's Tactical Style

Tactical is a sleek, sleeveless variant of the standard Mystique skin. There are two prerequisites before you can drop into action as the blue-skinned mutant.

First, players must reach level 80 in the Chapter 2 - Season 4 Battle Pass. This will unlock the standard Mystique skin. Battle Pass tiers can be purchased for V-Bucks, but most players choose to progress through it the old fashion way. Each tier of the Battle Pass requires a certain amount of XP to level it up. XP can be earned through a wide variety of methods. Daily and Weekly challenges, XP Coins, Punch Cards, and normal gameplay all reward XP toward the Battle Pass. If you’re looking for help on the Weekly challenges, check out our Weekly Challenge Guide.

The second step required to unlock the Tactical style, players must complete ten total Weekly challenges from Weeks 9 and 10. This is a huge disappointment for Mystique fans as Week 9 is the earliest players will be able to equip this stylish variant.

Unlocking Mystique’s Shapeshifter Emote

Unlike the Tactical style, the Shapeshifter emote can be unlocked right now. The Shapeshifter emote becomes available at tier 86 of the Battle Pass. Reaching tier 86 will unlock Mystique’s exclusive Awakening Challenges. Players must complete all three Awakening Challenges to unlock the emote. All of these challenges require that the player is wearing the Mystique skin.

The three challenges are as follows:

  1. Use a phone booth as Mystique
  2. Deal damage with different rarity pistols as Mystique
  3. Emote as Mystique after eliminating an opponent

Use a Phone Booth as Mystique

Mystique's first Awakening Challenge is about as easy as they come. Players must enter a phone booth while wearing the Mystique skin — that's it.

Any phone booth will work. For this guide, we'll target one of the most blatant and obvious ones. In the dead centre of Doom's Domain is an unmistakable giant Doctor Doom Statue. Directly next to this statue is a phone booth. Hot-drop into Doom's Domain and enter the phone booth. Doing so will disguise you as a Henchman and complete the challenge.

Deal damage with different rarity pistols as Mystique

Unlike the first challenge, this one is all up to the RNG gods. There is no real strategy to this challenge, it's basically all luck.

Players will need to deal damage with three different rarity pistols while using the Mystique skin. These rarities are Common (White), Uncommon (Green), and Rare (Blue). Team Rumble is the best game mode for this challenge, as you'll keep your pistols and inventory upon death.

Choose a location that holds a lot of loot but also won't be too contested. For example, places like Steamy Stacks, Craggy Cliffs, and Dirty Docks work great. Loot as much as possible in search of different rarity pistols. This is where the luck comes in. There are no guaranteed spawns, so you'll have to keep looting until you find all three different rarities.

Once all three have been acquired, head toward the action, and start shooting. You only need to hit one shot per pistol. As soon as you do a little bit of damage, switch pistols and continue firing. It's possible to deal damage with all three on a single enemy.

Don't stress too much if you can't seem to find one of the pistol rarities. Do your best to deal damage with what you have. The progress will carry over and hopefully you'll find the missing colour in the next match.

Emote as Mystique after eliminating an opponent

Anyone familiar with the X-Men knows that Mystique's special power is her ability to morph her appearance. In Fortnite, Mystique possesses the same power.

Mystique's final Awakening Challenge requires players to perform her signature emote after eliminating an enemy. Eliminating an enemy will give Mystique access to her "Shapeshifter" emote. This emote allows players to replicate the appearance of any enemy they eliminate. That's right, you can transform into that OG skin you always dreamed of wearing.

If you struggle with eliminations, launch Team Rumble. Here, players will respawn upon death. Just keep trying until you eliminate an enemy. Immediately pull out the emote wheel and use the Shapeshifter emote. You'll swap skins with the enemy you killed and gain permanent access to Mystique's signature ability.
