A couple of weeks ago Fortnite announced that it will be extending the second season of Chapter 2 from the 30th of April to the 4th of June. Since Season 7 of Chapter 1 of Fortnite, Epic Games has developed a convention to release overtime challenges to give players an opportunity to gain extra rewards, either as in-game cosmetics or XP.

Season 2 isn’t any exception and with an even larger extension, Fortnite has given players a ton of challenges to complete, named 'Overtime Challenges'. Each challenge is divided into multiple stages and gives varying rewards to players, with the highest tier awarding up to a maximum of 500,000.

There are two parts to the Overtime Challenges, but with only half have been released thus far, meaning this article will feature the guide to completing the first set of Overtime Challenges. Without further ado in future Fortnite leaks, let's dive into the first set of challenges:

#1 - Eliminate player or Henchmen at Pleasant Park:

Pleasant park is home to a Secret Base, which means the presence of Henchman. This challenge allows players to eliminate either opponents or Henchman. There are three stages to this challenge.

  • Stage 1: 5 Eliminations
  • Stage 2: 10 Eliminations
  • Stage 3: 100 Eliminations

#2 - Open Chests locked by an ID Scanner at The Grotto:

Another self-explanatory challenge. It requires players to open chest locked by an ID Scanner. They can do this by using an ID obtained by shaking down a Henchman once they are knocked down. This challenge also has 3 stages:

  • Stage 1: 3 Chests
  • Stage 2: 5 Chests
  • Stage 3: 10 Chests

#3 - Throw Henchmen overboard at The Yacht:

This challenge is as easy as it sounds. Players have to knock down Henchmen, carry them and throw them out of the ship. These are the stages:

  • Stage 1: 3 Henchmen
  • Stage 2: 5 Henchmen
  • Stage 3: 10 Henchmen

#4 - Destroy Gnomes at Camp Cod or Fort Crumpet:

Here is a detailed video showing all the locations where the Gnomes are located. You have to destroy a total of 25 Gnomes in 3 stages:

  • Stage 1: 3 Gnomes
  • Stage 2: 7 Gnomes
  • Stage 3: 15 Gnomes

#5 - Damage players at The Agency:

Another self-explanatory challenge, which can be completed while playing normal matches and doesn’t require a lot of thought process put into it.

  • Stage 1: 500
  • Stage 2: 1,500
  • Stage 3: 10,000

#6 - Collect Metal at Hydro 16 or Compact Cars:

Collecting metal is an easy task but these locations are unnamed on the map and might be hard to locate, but we’ve got you covered. The map shows both of these locations encircled:

  • Stage 1: 250
  • Stage 2: 750
  • Stage 3: 1,500

#7 - Search Ammo Boxes at Lazy Lake:

The challenge is pretty simple and requires players to search ammo boxes in Lazy Lake in the following stages:

  • Stage 1: 5 Chests
  • Stage 2: 15 Chests
  • Stage 3: 30 Chests

#8 - Search Chests at Retail Row:

Another challenge which requires no explanation. It can be completed during the course of a match if a person lands Retail Row

  • Stage 1: 5 Chests
  • Stage 2: 15 Chests
  • Stage 3: 30 Chests

#9 - Catch Fish at Slurpy Swamps:

Here is how it goes down; players find a fishing rod and catch fish in three stages. The type of fish does not matter.

  • Stage 1: 5 Fish
  • Stage 2: 25 Fish
  • Stage 3: 100 Fish

#10 - Place top 10 after landing at Dirty Docks:

This is the last challenge and could be difficult depending upon where the zone forms. Dirty Docks is located in the Easternmost side of the map and has a low zone formation frequency, which could make this challenge one of the tougher ones.

  • Stage 1: 3 times
  • Stage 2: 6 times
  • Stage 3: 10 times

Most challenges are straightforward, and although one or two need some digging, they are no brain teasers. Having XP as the reward isn’t entirely motivating especially for players who have earned Midas as it is of no apparent use. There is a high possibility people pay less heed to this season’s challenges given that it has no “useful” rewards to offer.  But Fortnite might have something in mind with the second part of the Location Domination challenges and it is highly likely that the players receive better rewards.
