2021 has been awash with video game delays. It’s sad, but we could have predicted that the gaming industry would play catch-up at some point during the ongoing pandemic. That time has come in the second-half of this year.

Indies like Moonglow Bay and SkateBIRD have suffered pushbacks for quality maintenance, and even AAA titles like Battlefield 2042 have been forced to reset their release dates in order to make sure the games themselves are ready to be played. Sadly, one of this year's most anticipated indies has suffered the same fate.

Solar Ash Has Been Pushed Back

Solar Ash’s developer, Heart Machine, has now confirmed that the game will no longer be able to make its prospective release date. It's instead launching on December 2. The title was going to launch this month, but the team cite bug fixes as their reason to push Solar Ash back.

"Heart Machine & Annapurna Interactive have decided to delay the release of Solar Ash until December 2, 2021", reads the statement released on Heart Machine’s Twitter.

"We want Solar Ash to shine, and we need a bit more time to get the last pieces of polish and bug fixes into the game, while still navigating this global pandemic as a highly dedicated team. This short delay will help us get there. Thank you for your understanding, and we’ll see you in the Ultravoid soon.".

What Console Is Solar Ash Coming To?

In Solar Ash, this Hyper Life Drifter follow-up sees players take control of a Voidrunner called Rei. She has to save her home from an incoming black hole. To do it, she'll traverse lava-filled firescapes, sunken cities, and more colourful (but dangerous) backdrops.

Solar Ash might be a much-hyped indie, but it’s only coming to one new-gen console. The game is planned for launch on PlayStation consoles, but it’s also coming to PC via Epic Games - after being a big part of a couple of PlayStation Showcase events.

It’s a shame that Solar Ash is coming out later on than we had hoped, but at the very least, the team has the chance to work on the game's polish and make sure it’s perfect. Roll on December 3.
