Harry Maguire, a professional footballer for Manchester United and the English National Team, has become an official ambassador for Semper Fortis Esports.

Semper Fortis Esports, meaning "Always Strong" when translated from Latin, has recently entered esports by acquiring the Top Blokes European Rocket League roster, rebranding the side to SMPR ahead of the upcoming eleventh season of the title.

Now, Harry Maguire has joined a range of investors looking to propel the organisation.

Taking to Twitter, the international footballer said: I am excited to be partnering with Semper Fortis Esports. Their mission is to create a space for everyone to feel empowered to innovate through gaming, and I am looking forward to supporting the team!"

Maguire, a runner-up in the European Championships with England and the Europa League with Manchester United, joins fellow footballer and England teammate Dominic Calvert-Lewin as a Semper Fortis Ambassador. The Everton man joined the esports ranks back in May, where he stated: “I’m looking forward to connecting with new audiences and getting involved with the multiple opportunities the burgeoning gaming industry has to offer. This exciting chapter has just begun.”

SMPR's Rocket League roster was one of the more exciting teams in the RLCS X, having secured one Regional Championship, before finishing third in Europe at the revamped World Championships. Recently, the side confirmed the departure of Jack "FlamE" Pearton, as the transfer period begins to heat up.

Maguire is amongst one of many Premier League personalities now delving into Esports. Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer became a major owner of Norwegian esports management agency Ulti Agency, whilst Englishmen Dele Alli and Mason Mount have become ambassadors for Excel Esports and Combat Gaming, respectively.

Esports has become a market desired by a range of celebrities from other industries. Huge household names such as Jay-Z and Shaquille O'Neal have also recently looked to capitalise on the vastly growing opportunities.
