Halo Infinite Skins Price Called A 'Middle Finger' To Fans

Though the Halo Infinite multiplayer has been great fun for a lot of players (and the fact that it's entirely free-to-play has certainly helped), there are still (naturally) a lot of complaints to go around.

A vocal minority on Reddit have made their feelings quite clear, and many complaints are fair - especially those about the slow progression of the game's battle pass. 343 Industries were quick to patch up the progress problems, but it was still frustrating for a lot of players who dedicated hours to the game at its beta launch.

And now, fans are upset about something else that Halo Infinite is pushing during this era the gaming industry is under the scrutiny of microtransactions.

Are Halo Infinite Skin Prices Too High?

A lot of players have come together to call out 343 Industries for massively overcharging on Halo Infinite's in-game cosmetics.

Fans have taken serious issue with the fact that the Hazop Armour set comes in at a whopping $20 of in-game currency. The bundle comes with plenty of cosmetic items, but by any measure, $20 is far too much to ask for a simple skin set.

Even Fortnite - a particularly notorious game in the cosmetic discussion - offers at least two skins for a similar price, with some bundles packing in much more content for the same amount of in-game currency.

Naturally this is the main avenue a modern title can take to make money, but at such prices, fans don't have any reason to actually get involved. And players are very upset.

Halo Fans React To Extortionate Skin Prices

A post sharing the HAZOP set to the Halo subreddit has enraged fans, as you can imagine. "I can't tell whether I'm more mad or sad at the customization experience of this game" comments one user. "I'm smad."

For some, the frustration doesn't just lie in the price, but also that some items can only be used on one armour "core", meaning that the cosmetic options are restricted even further. As one person said, "Spot on. $20 is still too much to ask for the armor, but the fact you can’t use it on other armor cores is a huge middle finger to the consumer."

"Whatever pickaxe, outfit, backpack combo you want. It might not look good but at least you have the option to mix and match." The Halo Infinite cosmetic system is clearly flawed, and if these problems are going to be remedied at all, it's going to take some serious work from 343 Industries.

If the move threatens to keep players away like this, it would definitely be wise to at least lower some prices on the in-game stores. Otherwise, they run the risk of being a few Spartans down, and that's definitely not something they want.
