Halo Infinite’s Massive Download Size Revealed
Halo Infinite has a lot of hype powering it at the moment. Even though it’s a next-gen iteration of one of gaming’s most iconic series, a lot of fans might have lost hope in the game from the first teaser.
It didn’t do much to whet the appetite of fans, but that came with later updates that brought the excitement back with deeper looks into the free-to-play multiplayer mode and the vastly improved visuals of the campaign. Finally, Halo Infinite looked next-gen.
But, that comes with its own problems. Some have been reporting issues on Xbox One in the game’s beta, and now, it looks like the game’s size is fairly… well, next-gen.
Halo Infinite’s Whopping Download Size Has Leaked
According to wiredupreport, the file size of Halo Infinite has been leaked, revealing an image of a TV screen on the Xbox store that shows off the game’s page. According to this image, the size for “this device” sits at “about 97.24 GB”. Phew.
For comparison, the version of the game that was dished out for the beta was only 18GB, the full game of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War sits at 133GB on the Series X, and Microsoft Flight Simulator comes in at the same size - 97.2GB.
It’s a massive file size that’s competing with the most uncompressed and meaty of the Xbox Series X|S’ titles, which could be a problem for a lot of players - especially those on the Series S, which is a console without a lot of internal memory in the first place.
But, some Twitter users don’t think this is the final number.
Halo Fans Don’t Think This File Size Is Accurate
In the replies to a tweet by user HazzadorGamin, some fans are confident that this number is just a placeholder, regardless of how specific it is. Fans have been replying to the tweet and suggesting that the file size is yet to be revealed.
Whether this comes to be true remains to be seen, but given the prospects of Halo Infinite, this is sadly quite accurate. Fingers crossed that the game comes a little more compressed for sake of Series S players, else they might be forced to strip back their downloads a huge deal.
