GTA VI could be pushed to a 2021 release.
In crushing news for Grand Theft Auto fans, who were expecting the next instalment this year, publishers Take-Two Interactive have revealed in their earnings call that 2020 will be a "light year of releases". This all but confirms the lack of a AAA title from Rockstar in 2020, and will probably mean a push to Summer 2021.
A GTA VI Twitter account broke down the investors call between Take-Two and Rockstar, and provided the fans with this important info.
GTA V was released in 2013, and it's success has been immeasurable, so it comes as no surprise that fans are eager for the next chapter.
Other reports and leaks suggest GTA VI is almost ready, whereas others claim it's in the very early stages of development.
Of course, GTA V was recently released for free via Epic Games, meaning the game has enjoyed several thousands more downloads. Pair that with the success of GTA Online, and perhaps Rockstar doesn't believe that plumbing resources into a new title is necessary in the current climate.
In recent news, Rockstar announced they had implemented Work From Home policies as a response to COVID-19, signalling a possible push-back of the release of GTA VI.
