GTA V has been released on the Epic Games Store for PC users to get a week of free access.

18:00, 14 May 2020

Grand Theft Auto V was released almost seven years ago but remains one of the most popular games in the world. You can now cause havoc all through Los Santos, free of charge, until May 21.

Available from the Epic Games store, GTA V can be downloaded on PC for free until May 21. The fifth instalment of GTA is usually £25 (from GAME), however, starting from 3pm GMT today (May 14) you will get free access to it for a week.

How to get GTA V for free?

By heading over to the Epic Games Store, you will be able to create a free account and log in. From there you can head over to the ‘Free Games’ section where GTA V will be available, and by pressing ‘Get’ you will be able to download this to your PC and get access to Trevor, Franklin and Michael’s high-life in Los Santos.

Unfortunately, due it being exclusive to the Epic Games Store, this offer will not be available to Xbox and Playstation users and will be PC only.

The announcement of the free instalment was originally announced on Twitter by Epic Games, however, it was quickly deleted as the large volumes of traffic originally crashed the site.

It has been rumoured that GTA VI could be heading to our screens in the near future, and this could be part of Rockstar Games’ masterplan to drive up interest before the release.

Rockstar previously made a statement that they have implemented work from home policies, due to Covid-19, which may hinder the progression of a GTA VI title, however, it has been heavily rumoured than an announcement will be coming in 2020.
