Grand Theft Auto fans are incredibly excited about the upcoming remaster of the initial trilogy, and with a recent showing of a brand-new trailer, there's not much to criticise.

But, obviously there are still people complaining. Because, let's face it, this is gaming. If at least one person isn't kicking off then it's not worth talking about.

This time, it's regarding Thomas "Tommy" Vercetti, if you'll remember, he was the protagonist 2002's Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and, fun fact, was voiced by Ray Liotta, aka Henry Hill in Goodfellas.

Does Tommy Look Different In The GTA Remaster?

So this time, it's regarding Tommy looking slightly plumper in the remaster when compared to the original. Reddit user _asteroidblues_ wrote in r/GTA: "Why did they make Tommy so much fatter for the Definitive Edition?". Rude! He may be slightly chunkier but in my opinion, he looks better for it.

One commenter wrote: "Tommy is definitely the least appealing new model out of the three. Claude looks A LOT better, CJ mostly looks the same and Tommy looks worse,

"The others feel like them attempting to fine tune the model that already exists, whereas Tommy feels more like an attempt to completely change his look. He doesn't seem like the same guy,

"However, like it's been said by other people, Tommy did look a lot like Claude on the PS2 version so maybe they were trying differentiate them more so they seem more unique to their respective games."

Others were quick to defend the fictional character's weight, with one saying: "The man’s eating good leave him alone". While another added: "Could’ve been what the developers originally envisioned for Tommy but in all honesty his build in the original is pretty basic to all the other character models."

Is Anyone Really Bothered By Fictional Characters Carrying A Bit Of Extra Weight?

Well, this is a fun question. Should people be bothered? No. Obviously not. It's a fictional character, there is literally no need for any kind of criticism whatsoever. Are people bothered? Sadly, yes. This is the world we currently live in, people.

It happened recently with the character reveal of God of War: Ragnarok's version of Thor, who (as many people have rightly pointed out) looks a lot closer to the mythical version of the God than the Marvel Cinematic Universe's chiselled version does. And yet, people still couldn't quite get their heads round the fact a God wouldn't look like a body builder. Despite the fact, yes, I'm saying this again, it's a fictional character. Sigh.

Also, Ragnarok's Thor is sexy as hell. Get over it.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition will be available on November 11th for $59.99 (£54.99). They'll be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, the newer Series X/S consoles, and PC via the Rockstar Games Launcher.  Physical release is looking to follow on December 7th.
