GTA 6 Job Listing Teases The Next Game's Setting
Pack your mosquito spray and alligator repellent because GTA 6's setting might've been revealed for the next chapter of Rockstar's vehicular blockbuster. Yet again, there's no official word on what's next for GTA - meaning we're left trawling job listings for clues.
If rumours of a modern Vice City or hurricanes and alligators don't float your boat, what about destructible skyscrapers and flying insects? Considering Battlefield 2042 missed out on adding them, there's a gap in the market for GTA 6 to (literally) blow the competition away.
What Does The GTA 6 Job Listing Reveal?
Posting on the GTA 6 subreddit, u/BongRippaTheSkeptic noticed Rockstar is hiring for a new VFX Artist. The job listing asks for someone who can "immerse the player in a believable world". As well as work on rain effects and flying insects, there's a massive mention of "large scale destruction events like skyscrapers crashing to the ground."
It's unclear whether these elements would be used in the game's cinematic cutscenes or as part of the actual open-world gameplay, but either way, we're pumped. Rockstar has gone dark on development since 2018's Red Dead Redemption 2, and apart from GTA V Expanded & Enhanced, most assume work is well underway on GTA 6.
Responding to the idea of destructible skyscrapers, the community loved its potential, but also noted a possible Florida connection. The insects could be referring to the swamp areas of the map. There was a leak that there would be swamps so could be possible," said one, while another added, "If it's based on Florida, insects will be found on every square inch of the map."
What's Going On With GTA 6?
Ultimately, we're lost in a sea of speculation. As one redditor wrote, "Because of that whole 'We've revisited Liberty City, We've revisited Los Santos, so now we're going back to Vice City' thing. In all fairness, that is totally a thing I could see Rockstar Games doing... but something completely new would be nice too."
Only recently, the maligned GTA Trilogy had a possible Easter egg that also pointed toward Florida. However, many wrote it off as a nod to developer Grove Street Games. Elsewhere, some noted that if Rockstar is hiring for these positions for GTA 6, it means the title is even further away than we thought.
Despite Rockstar keeping it zipped, there's a flurry of GTA 6 news on an almost weekly basis. The latest claimed the next game had to start from scratch, but that has since been somewhat debunked.
Wherever and whenever GTA 6 is set, the idea of hurricanes ripping through the city and destroying skyscrapers already has us throwing our money at the screen.
