The announcement of the GTA Trilogy was massive. Leaks and rumours teased a remastered revisit to San Andreas, Vice City, and Liberty City that fans were clamouring for. After the reveal and subsequent gameplay trailer, we can finally say for certain that the remasters are real. Thank goodness for that.

Plus, there was an amazing extra coming with it, too - Grand Theft Auto III would be coming to PlayStation Now and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas would be coming to Game Pass. It’s a great way to lower yourself into the trilogy before forking over the lethal £70 for the whole collection - but there’s a catch. Sorry, PC users.

What's The Catch With The Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Game Pass Release?

In announcing San Andreas’ new remaster alongside new upcoming titles like Forza Horizon 5 and It Takes Two, the official Xbox Game Pass Twitter account has confirmed that the remaster will only be coming to console.

This may well come as a big disappointment to many players, as Game Pass’ extension to PC and Cloud has been incredibly popular - and players on either platform will be missing out on the first taste of the trilogy.

This is likely a result of the game being released on PC, Android, and iOS as well, meaning that players are going to need to buy the full game to give them a spin on these platforms. It’s a bummer, especially as Xbox console players will still be getting their teaser before buying the full trilogy. It looks like Rockstar has other plans for PC and Cloud users.

When Does San Andreas Remastered Launch On Game Pass?

San Andreas and GTA III will be landing on their respective gaming streaming services on exactly the same day as the trilogy launches digitally - on November 5.

If you want the game as a physical copy, you’ll have to wait until it launches in its boxed form on December 7. It might be a little longer to wait, but hey, it’s just in time for Christmas, right?

The Grand Theft: Auto San Andreas Game Pass launch being restricted to console is a bummer, but hey - it’s technically a free game, so who are we to complain?
