The rumour mill in gaming never stops working. The industry is constantly awash with suggestions of new games, remakes, remasters, and new ways for us to play and new hardware for us to get our hands on.

Most frequently are rumours of remasters and remakes - gaming classics wanting another go on the charts and yearning for the chance to give new players an opportunity to revisit a game they’d never got round to. And the Grand Theft Auto series is certainly no different.

Fans have been desperate to see a new GTA remaster for the longest time, and it certainly doesn’t help that the production time between mainline games is as long as it is. Players are getting desperate, but new rumours have suggested that something could be coming very soon.

Take-Two Working On Three Remakes

As revealed by the company in a recent investor presentation, Take-Two has announced that it is working on three different “iterations of previously released titles”. You know what that means - it’s time to speculate on the future of Grand Theft Auto!

Rumours kicked off earlier this year about a remake of Grand Theft Auto 3, as well as San Andreas and Vice City to go with it - could these games be the three mentioned in the investor presentation?

Could These Remakes Be GTA Titles?

Usually, it’s safe to say that we should take rumours with a ‘pinch of salt’ and keep our excitement bottled - but in all seriousness, this trio could very well contain one of the long-awaited GTA remakes.

A remake makes great sense for Rockstar, allowing the developer to fill in players with another spin of the classic franchise without needing to put in all the effort of developing new stories, assets and characters - it’s all there for them. The long production time of new series titles would have cost Rockstar if it weren’t for the immense popularity of GTA Online, and there’s truly no better time to satiate fans with more GTA content than a time when hype for GTA 6 is seemingly higher than it’s ever been.

There’s still a chance these remasters won't come to light, but we’ve got our fingers crossed. If there’s anything that’ll delight fans, it’s a return to San Andreas or Vice City, so let’s hope that Rockstar knows it as well as the fans do.
