Grand Theft Auto 6 'Will Be Set In The Modern Day'
A reputable Grand Theft Auto leaker has claimed that the next game in the series will be set in the modern day.
We've been waiting for the next game in the series for what feels like forever, although it has only been eight years since GTA V became the highest-grossing entertainment project of all time. There have been many rumours, from there being a female protagonist for the first time ever, to whether or not it will be set in the 1980s.
Now, leaker Tom Henderson has Tweeted dispelling the latter, seemingly confirming that the next Rockstar offering will be set in present day.
This comes after Rockstar put out a job advert for a 'Mixed Media Animator', which we can only assume is for GTA 6, as there are no other big title games coming from the studio as far as we know.
In the ad, there's a mention of someone who "[creates] content for In-game media for our game world to make immersive experiences", can "work as a global animation team to provide believable experience to players", and "work on multiple platforms to create multiple styles of content for In-game Media".
Recently, an interesting patent from parent company Take-Two Interactive started doing the rounds on Reddit. It seems that Rockstar devs are working toward a new system that would trademark a "system and method for virtual navigation in a gaming environment". The system could theoretically allow NPCs to react with the world around them.
As it stands, NPCs in vehicles can only interact with objects directly around them, rather than the larger game. According to the patent, "conventional systems only provide limited resources" in terms of automating movements. Games can currently only handle a limited number of vehicles moving on a road at any given time. In reality, it would mean "each NPC can define its own specific characteristics", and effectively, have his or her own personality.
However, it's also important to note that the developer hasn't actually announced GTA 6 yet, but all of this talk has got us very excited.
