God Of War: Ragnarok PC Release Already Teased By Leaks

There's a lot going on in the God of War world right now, with the once sidelined Ghost of Sparta back in a big way. By the time God of War: Ascension brought the Greek saga to an end in 2013, it was a far cry from the franchise's highs like God of War III

It's a different story these days with 2018's God of War being held as one of the greatest video games of all time and even winning IGN's poll to claim that title. With this in mind, it's no surprise all eyes are on 2022's PlayStation-exclusive God of War: Ragnarok. The question is, how long will it be a PlayStation exclusive?

Is A God Of War: Ragnarok PC Port On The Way?

Buried in a recent snowstorm when it comes to God of War news, there are whispers that a Ragnarok PC version could be on the horizon. Alongside confirmation the franchise will lose its PlayStation exclusivity with a PC release next year, there's the added bonus you could even be able to play on Xbox, and now, Ragnarok potentially following suit.

Rumours that a God of War: Ragnarok PC port will be dusting off the Leviathan Axe comes from LinkedIn snoopers. Remembering that the release of the first game will be handled by Jetpack Interactive instead of Sony Santa Monica (although the OG dev will still oversee), eyebrows were raised when one employee listed God of War: Ragnarok as one of his current projects.

Warren Lee is a Tools and Systems Programmer for Jetpack, who has Ragnarok on his profile. It's entirely possible Lee has Ragnarok on the brain and accidentally typed the wrong game, but either way, the internet is suitably suspicious.

When Could We See God Of War: Ragnarok On PC?

Let's temper expectations here. Ragnarok's console release is guaranteed to be one of 2022's biggest releases. By the time the PC version of 2018's game releases, it will have been four years of PS exclusivity. Sony would be mad to give away one of its biggest sellers (potentially of all time) to an open market early on.

Looking at a clever business model, we imagine it would be another four years before Ragnarok will come to PC. Then again, it doesn't make sense why Lee would have a PC port listed on his CV. It also seems a bit odd that a team would be working on a PC port so far ahead of time. Even if God of War: Ragnarok on PC is a reality, we doubt it'll be a 2022 release.

Elsewhere, there's not a lot of merit in announcing the God of War PC port and then following it with Ragnarok so soon after. At least Sony has just rebranded its PlayStation Mobile label as the PC-specific PlayStation PC LLC - proving that it's doing a U-turn on previous reports it won't focus on PC ports. As one sceptic rightly wrote, we can now assume Ragnarok will eventually come to PC, it's just a case of when.
