PlayStation Showcases don't play around, especially when it comes to the exclusive announcements of upcoming games in the series.

One that is no exception is the first official title reveal of the already announced next chapter in the God of War saga, which has now been confirmed as God Of War: Ragnarok.

During the short but sweet trailer, you begin to see the relationship between Kratos and Atreus, with also an appearance from God of Thunder, Thor.

Fans were treated to a hands-on look at the upcoming combat system, and those who enjoyed the previous game will be pleased to see its similarities.

Enemies are looking quicker, larger and more dangerous than ever - with the threat to both Kratos and Atreus' life, looking more prevalent than ever.

God Of War: Ragnarok will be the finale of the Norse saga - according to one of the in-game giants called Hulst.

The trailer also gave fans a first look at the gameplay included in the sequel game, and during a speech after the reveal, it was confirmed that Eric Williams will be taking over directing on Ragnarok after Cory Barlog directed the original 2018 game.

With the original game going on to sell over 10 million copies, it's bound to be yet another win for fans of the God of War series, and one of the biggest PlayStation 5 releases yet.

God of War: Ragnarok is set to take place five years after the first game's timeline, with a key plot being Atreus' true heritage. Thor and Freya feature as the two main antagonists, and you will have to fight them off using a whole new range of runes and abilities. All nine realms that the fans know and love will also feature in the game, as well as Mimir.
