The most recent PlayStation Showcase treated fans to a non-stop flurry of exciting news. However, the biggest by far had to be the announcement of God of War: Ragnarok. Until the announcement, we didn't actually know the name of the game properly. But now, it's official.

When it comes to the casting, one of the biggest announcements was that Thor will be played by none other than Sons of Anarchy's Ryan Hurst, who plays Opie in the show.

Concept art was also shared by the Art Director of the game, Raf Grassetti, and he looks AMAZING.

Who Is Ryan Hurst - The New Thor In God Of War: Ragnarok?

If you've not watched Sons of Anarchy, you're seriously missing out. While we wait for Ragnarok to be released, you might want to waste some time by watching all seven seasons. You won't regret it. Ryan Hurst plays the fan-favourite character, Opie. An (arguably) bad guy with a heart of gold deep down, his loyalty to the gang is a recurring theme throughout the series.

Apart from Sons of Anarchy, he's also starred in an array of other big titles, such as The Walking Dead and Bates Motel. The 45-year-old is 6ft 3, and his impressive stature has helped him secure a multitude of roles that require a demanding presence. So lending his voice to the God of War himself, Thor, makes sense.

What Else Do We Know About God Of War: Ragnarok?

The gameplay footage was incredible, showing us Kratos and Atreus again as they navigate through life together.

The PlayStation blog gave us a bit more info, saying: "Atreus is desperately curious. Like most young people, he wants to understand who he is more than anything. In this case, he wants to understand who he could be. The mystery of Loki’s role in the upcoming conflict is something that Atreus cannot let go of. He wants to keep his family safe, but Atreus also doesn’t want to stand by and do nothing while conflict consumes the Nine Realms.

"Kratos, still bearing the knowledge of his past mistakes, wants to spare Atreus the bloody lessons he learned from his conflict with gods. He wants to keep his son safe, above all, and their confrontation with Baldur has vindicated the belief that only tragedy will come from further entanglements with the Aesir.

"Together, Kratos and Atreus will have to make a choice about which path they will take. Whatever they choose will define the fate of all those living in the Nine Realms as Ragnarök approaches."

God of War: Ragnarok will release in 2022 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
