God Of War Developer Is Already Hiring For Next Game
Kratos might be putting down his axe with God of War: Ragnarok, but that hasn't stopped Sony Santa Monica from teasing what comes next. We already know the rebooted God of War franchise that restarted in 2018 won't be dragged out into a trilogy, but is anyone really buying Kratos is out for the count?
Even if we don't know what's next for the Ghost of Sparta and whether he'll make it out Ragnarok's cataclysmic events alive, Santa Monica is already recruiting for what could be its next big outing.
What Is Sony Santa Monica Working On?
A mysterious job posting on the official SSM site is recruiting a Senior Character Concept Artist. The studio is looking for someone who can help "visualize dynamic and believable characters that set the bar for creativity and complexity on the PlayStation console". There's confirmation that it's for a "new unannounced title", which means Ragnarok is out of the question.
It's unclear what's going on, however, expect things to become clearer once Ragnarok heads toward its 2022 release date. Sony Santa Monica should have some time on its hands when the game finally comes out - especially because Jetpack Interactive is apparently handling the PC port of 2018's title.
What Could Sony Santa Monica's New Game Be?
Speculating on what's on the way is pretty pointless right now. Dare we dream that it's another God of War game? We're guessing this definitely won't be the end of Atreus, so the timing could be right for a possible Ragnarok spin-off or DLC.
SSM has previously worked on the God of War games going all the way back to 2005, but elsewhere, it's lent a hand on the likes of the Twisted Metal games. With new-found success thanks to the God of War reboot, Sony Santa Monica could be going down the Naughty Dog route and branching out into a new IP. Seeing what the studio has done with Kratos, we're excited to see what's next.
