Yesterday saw celebrations begin for Ghostbusters day - an event that celebrates the franchise born of the '80s comedy that defined a generation. And celebrate, they did. A slew of announcements revealed that new series and films are in the works that expand Ivan Reitman's world even further.

As new Ghostbusters games are on the horizon, there was plenty to come from for the community.  And now, the previously announced Ghostbusters VR has been revealed to be making itself a big hitter for PlayStation.

What's Coming To PSVR2?

A completely fresh Ghostbusters experience is coming to PSVR2 in the aptly titled Ghostbusters VR, as announced yesterday as part of celebrations for Ghostbusters day.

The game isn't a follow-up to any of the existing games or movies in the franchise, but rather an experience that allows players to run their own Ghost-Busting business in modern-day San Francisco.

The spook-hunting title was previously announced in April, with it being advertised for the Meta Quest 2. In a positive update, it's now been announced to be on its way to the in-development PlayStation VR2.

When Is Ghostbusters VR Coming Out?

There isn't a set release date for Ghostbusters VR, but it's likely that the game will launch first on the Meta Quest 2. This is because we don't have a release date set for the actual PSVR2 console yet, and with fans expecting it to launch way ahead in 2023, it's logical to assume it'll go to the Quest ahead of time as a result of this uncertainty.

Even though a 2022 release date for Meta users isn't completely off the table, we'll have to wait and see what comes from further announcements. Frankly, a game that lets you create your own ghostbusting legacy sounds like incredible fun, and in VR, it's bound to be even more exciting. Either way, we can't wait to finally answer the call.
