You can't beat the old classics, can you? While 2019's remake of Resident Evil 2 was all well and good, it didn't quite capture the magic of the 1998 original - as a glitchy Leon S. Kennedy plodded around the Raccoon City Police Department.

Following the success of the first game, Capcom left the confines of the Spencer Mansion and explored the zombie-ravaged Raccoon City. While the series has come a long way since then - and we're now battling vampires and werewolves in Village - many believe RE2 is what propelled the series forward.

What is Resident Evil 2 in real life?

Posting on TikTok, lake_skywalker shared their real-life version of Resident Evil 2, with glitches and all. As well as capturing the fixed camera angles, there's classic Leon running on the spot, awkward turning motions, and even a door loading screen. It would've been so easy to do a gritty reimagining of 2019's game, but instead, they're cashing in on our love of retro gaming.

Others were suitably impressed, with one writing, "I've never seen anyone do a more accurate representation of this game in my life. Another added, "Outstandingly done, camera placement, character and zombie movements and actions, all spot on", while a third said, "How the Resident Evil movies should have gone".

Even some 23 years after Resident Evil 2 introduced Leon and Claire to the franchise, there's still a lot of love for Capcom's sequel. We have seen the game in live-action before, with 2004's underwhelming Resident Evil: Apocalypse

What's next for live-action Resident Evil?

If you wanted more from a live-action RE2, rest assured that Johannes Roberts' Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City will adapt the events of the first two games and reboot the franchise after the Milla Jovovich years. In the all-star movie, Leon will be played by Avan Jogia, while Kaya Scodelario is Claire, and Lily Gao is Ada Wong.

Hopefully, Welcome to Raccoon City will reinvigorate the Resi name on the silver screen. Who wouldn't want to see a live-action Resident Evil 4 adaptation? Elsewhere, Netflix has planned an eight-episode series that is unrelated to Johannes' movie and will chart two timelines.

In the currently unnamed series, the first timeline follows Jade and Billie Wesker (we assume they have a famous daddy) as they move to Raccoon City. The second is set 25 years later, where just 15 million humans are left alive and Jade fights to survive in her 30s. Either way, it's great to see that this undead favourite is far from circling the grave.
