Game Pass Is Apparently Adding 'Vintage' Xbox Games In November
Supposedly, Xbox could be expanding their list of backwards compatible games, with original Xbox and Xbox 360 titles expected sometime in November.
How do we know more titles are coming?
XboxEra co-host and leaker Nick Shpeshal originally tweeted about this back in January, confirming that the Xbox backwards compatibility program wasn’t finished and that more titles would be coming this year.
It took over nine months for an update, with him stating “It seems some games may have been datamined, but sometimes OG and 360 games are tested for BC but don't make the cut so I won't list any games as to not set expectations. Just a heads up that there's been activity here so I'd probably expect something in November.”
It’s been a while since Microsoft has added to the list, but according to Shpeshal, more games are coming next month. Conveniently the Xbox 20th anniversary is also occurring on November 15, which may be the reason for them potentially adding more titles.
Shpsehsal somewhat confirmed this, responding to a user asking about the anniversary, stating “That’s what I’d be expecting. (...) Having them on the anniversary would make the most sense.” He also clarified the number of new titles he expects to make the cut, suggesting it would be around ten.
Does Xbox include backwards compatibility?
Xbox has gone to great strides to make their older generations of games playable on newer hardware, even utilising the power of their latest-gen consoles to enhance them.
Despite technical limitations on some titles restricting this, they have put a lot of effort into expanding their catalogue, something Sony and Nintendo consistently fail to compete with.
With literally hundreds of titles for Xbox still to choose from for adding backwards compatibility, they won’t be running out of ideas anytime soon, but there are still many old favourites yet to make the cut. Whatever they choose for the next release, we can only speculate for now, as Shpeshal has stated he won't reveal what games could make the cut.
