G2 Avova On Sentinels Rematch: 'We Are A New Team, And They Have Everything To Lose'
G2 Esports' crusade for VALORANT dominance got off to a flying start, as Europe's fourth seed fended off the Korean underdogs, F4Q, in a revamped group - also consisting of their online rivals Sentinels.
As the two sides destined for the playoff stages, G2 and Sentinels locked horns in their first of two ties that saw the reigning International Masters Champions kick their title defence off.
The war of words kicked off well into the build-up to the clash of the titans in Group D, with G2's CEO Carlos "Ocelote" Rodríguez flying a plane over Berlin's Verti Music Hall with the strapline of "f**k Sentinels".
However, Auni "AvovA" Chahade believes that the antics between the two sides actually has no effects on the performance, "none at all".
Speaking after their nail-biting defeat at the hands of their web-warriors, AvovA discussed the zero impact of outside rivalries and trash talk, how G2 aim to bounce back in their rematch with the NA giants, and how they're setting into Berlin.
AvovA admitted that "on Haven, our attack was just horrible," which was a major contribution to their loss, despite a solid showing on defensive rounds to embark on a comeback. Thwarted just five rounds short of the most glorious of upsets, AvovA eyes a revenge tour following some hard work back at the labs.
"The only pressure is on them. For us, we're a brand-new team, and they have everything to lose. We don't have much to lose yet."
G2's road to redemption starts with another fixture against F4Q, who are staring down the barrel of the gun after their opening two fixtures in the death group.
After making Sentinels bleed, something that no team has yet to do, AvovA and G2 Esports will certainly be looking for revenge, especially with an upper seed at stake.
Recently, ShahZaM was full of praise for their European rivals, claiming that G2 could push Sentinels all the way to the Grand Finals, or fellow EU showstoppers, Acend.
