The sci-fi shenanigans of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7 continue, as the latest season of Epic Games' battle royale favourite enters a new era. In typical Fortnite fashion, the season's theme wasn't kept a secret for very long, and alongside rumours that Superman and Rick Sanchez would be joining the party, we were on the money that aliens would be invading the map.

Epic is sure to keep dishing up the surprises as Season 7 evolves over the next few months, but (quite literally) at the centre of the story is the Zero Point. From a small crater in the ground in Season 5, to the massive addition of The Spire in Season 6, we now have The Aftermath as a purple lagoon with a spaceship hovering above it. Alongside it, there are new rumours of zero gravity biome.

What is the Fortnite zero gravity POI?

Noted leaker HYPEX shared a look at two new potential weapons that will land in Chapter 2 Season 7. Here they nodded toward the Cowinator and the Prop Gun. While the Prop Gun has the ability to turn opponents into a generic prop for a limited amount of time, the Cowinator sounds like it's pulled from an episode of The X-Files. Allowing you to lift objects and throw them (presumably) at enemies, it's similar to the UFO's tractor beam.

The final piece of the puzzle is the mention of a consumable called Alpaca. Although HYPEX doesn't think this will be the final name of the item, it's thought to be a throwable that will create an area of zero-g. If you're in the middle of trying to pull off the perfect snipe, it's sure to be frustrating to be suddenly whipped into the air by a no gravity consumable.

The interesting bit comes from HYPEX's second tweet, which mentions a "No Gravity Biome". Linked to Alpaca, the insider suggests it will be a specific area of the map where you bob around in Zero-G. This is coupled with a "jump and land" sound and a mention of swimming. If this is the case, the middle of the map looks like the perfect place for a Fortnite zero gravity POI.

When will we see the Fortnite zero gravity POI?

As with all these things, Epic Games is yet to officially confirm a zero gravity POI on the Fortnite map. The discovery of the sounds in the back of the code suggests it's on the way, however, there's no way to determine when that could be. Unlike Call of Duty: WarzoneFortnite doesn't have a big mid-season reset, so your guess is as good as ours.

It's all speculation for now, but remember how last season's Bouncy Eggs let you jump over the map in style. Picture the scene where the zero gravity POI is just a bunch of us floating around in the air and trying to take each other out. Pure, unadulterated, chaos.

Fortnite Chapter 2 has been criticised for being a little slow on the uptake in terms of revamping POIs, while Season 7 has done little to change this. Although The Spire has been replaced with The Aftermath and a few key locales had a name change, it's much of the same. Here's hoping a zero gravity POI takes the action into a new dimension as Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 continues to evolve.
