Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 5 Challenge Guide: Week 10
Bounty Hunters like Master Chief, Kratos, The Terminator, and Predator have invaded Fortnite. The presence of more Mythic items than ever has led to unprecedented levels of havoc on the island. Joining in the action are Star Wars icons, The Mandolorian and Baby Yoda. Despite all the mayhem, there remains one truth: challenges.
Challenges offer players the opportunity to complete a specific task and receive XP in return. Completing challenges throughout the season is essential for levelling up the Battle Pass. Some players love the activity of challenge hunting. For others, it may feel like a chore. Regardless, they are a necessity for those looking to earn all of the exclusive rewards.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at our Challenge Guide below for an in-depth breakdown of every single Week 10 challenge and the best course of action for completing them.
Use Food Consumables (3) - 20,000 XP
Before we get started, let’s take a moment to appreciate how easy Week 10’s challenges are. There’s no tedious theme to them or any crazily specific challenges players will have to go out of their way for. It’s just a random assortment of basic challenges that one could honestly complete all through natural gameplay.
The shockingly easy week kicks off with a challenge surrounding food consumables. Players must use three food consumables in total. Food consumables include apples, mushrooms, cabbages, corn, and more. Weeping Woods, Slurpy Swamp, and the Orchard are a few great places to search for these items.
Remember, food consumables such as apples and cabbage that heal HP require the player to have taken damage before they can be consumed. To deal self-damage, simply build up at least three storeys and jump off. This will deal a minuscule amount of fall damage. Heal back up with some fruit and vegetables to complete this challenge.
Eliminations with common weapons (1) - 20,000 XP
This is one of those challenges you’ll complete naturally without even trying. All you’ll need to do is get a single elimination with a Common rarity weapon. Hop in the game mode of your choice and kill someone with a white weapon - any type of gun will do. And that’s it. Claim the free 20,000 XP and thank the devs for releasing such an easy challenge.
Go for a swim in Lazy Lake (1) - 20,000 XP
Put your swim trunks on and dive into the water at the Lazy Lake point of interest (POI). While the challenge asks the player to swim, it will technically complete the second your toes touch the water.
Dance near Pleasant Park (1) - 20,000 XP
Another one-step challenge. This one hardly affects gameplay at all. Whenever you find yourself near Pleasant Park, dance a little jig and receive 20,000 XP for it. Any emote will work.
Deal Melee Damage (300) - 20,000 XP
These last three challenges will take more effort than the ones that came before. Players must deal 300 melee damage. Pickaxes deal 20 damage per hit, so you’ll need to land 15 hits to reach the 300 damage threshold.
Bringing a pickaxe to a gunfight is a death sentence, so this challenge is best attempted in Team Rumble. In Team Rumble, players respawn until the score hits 100. Without fear of death, just keep dropping in while swinging your pickaxe at any enemy you come across. You’ll die a lot, but at least it’s not permanent, and Team Rumble doesn’t count against your stats.
Upgrade weapons (3) - 20,000 XP
Long gone are the days of workbenches. In Chapter 2 - Season 5, players must visit specific NPCs to upgrade weapons. Players can purchase upgrades with Gold Bars. Gold Bars are rewarded for eliminating other players, opening chests, and completing bounties.
The NPCs that offer weapon upgrades are:
- Reese: Dirty Docks
- Brutus: Dirty Docks
- Grimbles: Fort Crumpet
- Kit: Catty Corner
- Reaper: Southwest of Sweaty Sands
- Kondor: Misty Meadows
- Sparkplug: Lazy Lake
- Tomato Head: Pizza Pit
- Beef Boss: Durr Burger Food Truck
- Fishstick: Craggy Cliffs
It’s important to note that upgrades cost significantly more Gold Bars per level. For example, upgrading a Common weapon costs a mere 25 Gold Bars while upgrading to Legendary rarity has an asking price of 345 Gold Bars.
This challenge requires players to upgrade three weapons, so it’s most cost-effective to start with Common weapons. Three Common rarity upgrades will set you back the small price 75 Gold Bars. Gather up some common guns plus a few Gold bars and head to any of the NPCs listed above. But remember, NPCs don’t appear in limited-time modes, so Team Rumble isn’t an option for this one.
Eliminate IO guards (5) - 20,000 XP
The Fortnite devs saved the hardest challenge of the week for last. Players must eliminate five IO Guards.
We fully detailed IO Guards in our Week 9 Challenge Guide, but to summarise, IO Guards are aggressive NPCs that were newly introduced in Chapter 2 - Season 5. Like other NPCs, IO Guards do not spawn in Team Rumble or any other limited-time modes.
IO Guards spawn all around the Fortnite map. A few common spawn points include:
- Northeast of Stealthy Stronghold
- The north side of Coral Castle
- West of Pleasant Park
- East of Fort Crumpet (POI)
- On the hill of the Holly House (POI)
- Outside the Durrr Burger (POI)
- West of Salty Towers
- Weeping Woods (Near the camper vans)
- Risky Reels (Near the entrance)
- The island northeast of Craggy Cliffs
- South of Slurpy Swamp
- Hunter's Haven (In the centre)
- Mowdown (POI) (Middle of the track)
- East of The Orchard (POI), northeast of Steel Farm (POI)
- North of Lazy Lake, near Gorgeous Gorge (POI)
- Next to the cooling towers at Steamy Stacks
- Lake Canoe (POI), near the houses
- Near Rapid's Rest (POI)
- Misty Meadows (Next to the river)
- Next to the hut at Camp Cod (POI)
Because IO Guards only spawn in groups of three, players will need to locate and eliminate at least two different groups of IO Guards to complete this challenge.
IO Guards are strong, so don’t underestimate them. Defend yourself with builds and pick at them from a distance. When you down one, the other guards will try and revive their fallen comrade. Use this opportunity to unleash free shots and wipe the whole crew.
