The Halloween season might be well and truly over as we look ahead to Christmas, but still, that hasn't stopped Epic Games forcing Fortnite fans behind their cushions.

This year's "Fortnitemares" was another major hit for the long-running battle royale shooter as the map was overrun with the undead. While many have called for a permanent "Fortnitemares" similar to Call of Duty Zombies or Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare, we're sadly limited to shooting the living hell out of brain-munchers in October.

Even though the usual family-friendly service has been restored to the map, news of Fornite Season 5 "Nightmare" leaks has us wondering if more creepy content is on the way. For this one, we'll have to head to Stealthy Stronghold. Even though the revamped Season 5 map added new locales like Salty Towers and The Coliseum, the biggest mystery currently surrounds Stealthy Stronghold. Now, there's something sinister going on in that walled-off biodome.

Fortnite Season 5 Nightmare leaks: What are they?

Just days after we shared theories on a potential Predator crossover, other Fortnite fanatics have done some digging and suggested something else entirely. The idea of a "Nightmare" update was first uncovered by @FortTory, who shared a screenshot of a datafile referring to it. No matter what's going on, it's clear something is coming to Stealthy Stronghold.

It all ties together with a pack of snarling wolves that were seen in the recent launch trailer than announced God of War's Kratos for Season 5. In the clip, Kratos saved the syrup-covered Mancake from the hungry howlers. Wolves featured as a low-level enemy in 2018's God of War, however, they could also make the move to the map alongside the axe-wielding Kratos.

Fortnite Season 5 Nightmare leaks: Are wolves on the way?

If you still aren't convinced, reputable Fortnite leaker Tabor Hill posted a lengthy video claiming wolves are on the way. In the video, Hill explained, "Apparently, there’s going to be some kind of wolf or beast creatures". However, while most of us are scared by the prospect of these furry monsters, Hill added that they "may be tameable". He continued, "And by tameable, I mean become friends with them".

Hill said it reminds them of the wolves from the Zelda series - Twilight Princess in particular - but reiterated they haven't seen any actual gameplay. Although they suggested the wolves update could be coming soon, we're left guessing for now. We've already seen the ability to recruit NPCs to your side in Season 5, so it's easy to imagine players roaming the playing field with a pack of ravenous wolves to help them. As with all things Fortnite, we'll have to watch this space.
